Same Answer. Still. 😂

Woman enjoying her choice to be a homemaker

If the salary was the same, what job would you be doing right now and why?

If the salary was the same, what job would you be doing right now and why?

Apparently, I have already answered this question once—many years ago.

And guess what?

Same answer. 😂

I’d still be a homemaker.

Not because I had some grand plan of becoming one. Life just… happened. I was working, I was happy working, and then I had children.

And somehow, the idea of leaving them at home and going to work never sat quite right with me.

Even with a nanny at home, there was this strange little voice in my head saying, “But you’re their mother. Shouldn’t you be here?”

I tried negotiating with that voice.

It won. Every. Single. Time. 😄

Maybe I wasn’t as strong as I thought I should be. Maybe I should have been more practical, more ambitious, more “I can have it all!”

Well… apparently I couldn’t.

Or perhaps I simply didn’t want to.

Because while I sometimes wonder what my career would look like today, I have absolutely no regrets about the life I chose.

I was happy when I worked.

I am ridiculously, embarrassingly, wonderfully happy being a homemaker now.

So, if the salary was the same?

I’d still choose this job.

Although I’d definitely ask for a salary revision this time.

The cost of living has gone up. The children have grown up. And my unpaid overtime is getting ridiculous. 😂

What about you? If money wasn’t a factor, would you still choose the life you’re living—or would you finally follow that random dream you’ve been secretly entertaining? 😄

Sometimes the life we choose makes more sense in hindsight than the plans we once had. And asking for a salary revision after years of overtime is completely fair.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

So true! 😊 Sometimes life quietly takes us where we were meant to be. And yes, that salary revision is definitely overdue! 😂

    *CONFESSIONS FOR TODAY*

    Sunday, 30th AUGUST 2026

*Today, 30th AUGUST 2026,* I Confess and Declare that *I give thanks to my Father and my God because His Word concerning me is sure, dependable and eternally established.* I am a child of God, and I have been brought into a life of divine possibilities through His exceeding great and precious promises.I confidently embrace everything the Word has revealed concerning my identity, inheritance, purpose and future in Christ Jesus.
I refuse to allow circumstances to dictate my expectations because God’s promises are more real than any situation I may face.My heart is filled with faith, joy and thanksgiving because I know that my Heavenly Father is faithful to everything He has spoken.

I therefore Declare that God’s Word is producing results in every area of my life, and no promise of God concerning me shall fall to the ground unfulfilled.I am strengthened by the Spirit to walk in the reality of God’s provisions, guidance, protection, favour and blessings for my life.I meditate on the Word, speak it boldly and act on it with unwavering faith, knowing that the integrity of God’s Word is beyond question.I am an heir of God’s Kingdom and a partaker of the divine nature, therefore I live above fear, uncertainty and defeat.Every day, I experience greater manifestations of God’s goodness as His Word concerning me comes to pass, and my testimony continually magnifies His faithfulness. Glorrrrrrrryyyyyyy!

Firmly, I know that I am established in the eternal truth of God’s Word and positioned to enjoy the inheritance He has prepared for me in Christ.I am not moved by contrary reports because my confidence rests completely on the One who cannot lie and whose Word never fails.I walk in Divine Health, supernatural provision, divine protection, wisdom, favour and victory as I consciously live according to God’s promises. My faith is strengthened daily, my expectation is alive, and I confidently anticipate greater manifestations of God’s goodness in every area of my life.I continually give thanks because my Faithful God watches over His Word to fulfil it, in the Gracious and Most Dependable Name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

*Great Is Our God Forever and Ever!*

This is so touching, Nihshab. Motherhood comes with a lot of sacrifice, and not everyone is worthy or willing to navigate through it. I agree with you that you could never win that argument about choosing your home and work, because if you have to choose, home comes first, and you have already made the best choice.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much. 🤍 Motherhood does change the way we look at our choices, and for me, being there for my children simply felt right. I’m glad I listened to that little voice. 😊🦋💕

  11. Nageshwar singh Avatar

Responsibility is a big thing, it ultimately leads you to your own path… where is the freedom to choose left then? nice post 😊

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Absolutely, Nageshwar ji ! 😊 Responsibilities do shape our choices, but I guess we still find little spaces to choose what makes us happy. 🦋✨

  12. Girish Mani Avatar

Nice…. In my case, I would like to be a farmer after finishing or completing all my commitments….

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

That sounds wonderful! 😊 There’s something very peaceful about imagining a life closer to the soil, especially after fulfilling all your commitments. And honestly, being a farmer sounds like a pretty fulfilling second innings. 🌱😊

  13. Vijay Srivastava Avatar

Rajeshwari ji, this is much more than a reflection on choosing to be a homemake it is a beautiful reflection on choosing what gives meaning to one’s life. 🙏

Life does not always lead us along the path we once imagined. Sometimes, the heart quietly chooses a different path, and only much later do we realize that it was not a compromise, but a calling.

Society often measures success through salaries, titles, careers, and achievements. But some of life’s most valuable contributions never appear on a payslip. They are found in the love given, the presence offered, the values nurtured, and the quiet strength with which a family is held together.

The most beautiful part of your reflection is not that you chose homemaking it is that you can look back without regret and say, “I was happy then, and I am happy now.” That is a rare form of inner wealth.

Perhaps true success is not always about having it all, but about knowing what is truly enough for the soul.

And yes… after all those years of unpaid overtime, a salary revision is certainly long overdue! 😂🙏

May every person have the courage to choose not merely what the world applauds, but what brings peace to the heart.

    Blessings always. 🙏

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much Vijay ji for reading my words so deeply and expressing what I was trying to say, perhaps even better than I could. 🙏🤍

I truly believe that sometimes life takes us somewhere we never planned to go, and yet, when we look back, we realise it was exactly where we were meant to be. For me, being able to say “I was happy then, and I am happy now” is perhaps the greatest reward.

And yes, after all that unpaid overtime, I think that salary revision is definitely overdue! 😂🙏

Thank you for your beautiful words and blessings. They mean a lot. 🤍🦋✨

Great explanation, one should always choose the life and profession of his or her choice. Satisfaction is the best salary.
