✨ Overthinking at 3AM Thoughts✨

(A Nihshabd Blog)

.

3 AM is that strange hour

when the whole world sleeps,

but our thoughts…

they suddenly decide to stay wide awake.

.

The things we avoid all day

return at night with their volume turned all the way up.

And we, without a remote,

just sit there and watch.

.

Sometimes the mind feels like a traffic signal

all thoughts frozen in one moment,

and then rushing wildly the very next.

.

At 3 AM,

we are both brave

and on the edge.

It’s the hour that tells the truth

we spend all day running away from.

.

“Am I doing enough?”

“Why didn’t I say what I really felt?”

“Will anyone ever understand me the way I am?”

.

The night doesn’t answer.

It simply puts a dim spotlight on us

and suddenly we become the lead actors

in the story we were avoiding.

.

Sometimes it’s the fear of the future,

sometimes memories we thought we buried,

sometimes people,

sometimes expectations…

They all line up one by one

and demand attention.

.

But here’s the quiet truth

3 AM thoughts aren’t enemies.

They’re just the feelings

we don’t have the courage to hear in daylight.

.

3 AM makes us cry a little,

learn a little,

feel deeply,

and sometimes…

release things we were holding too tightly.

.

So if you’re lying awake at 3 AM, overthinking,

remember

you’re not alone.

This hour silently connects all of us

in the same invisible conversation.

.

And the morning?

Morning always makes things better.

It always does.

Until then…

just breathe.

.

    1. Thank you for sharing this beautiful line from the Bhagavad Gita 🙏 it feels deeply connected to what I tried to capture in Overthinking at 3 AM. The world may sleep, yet in those quiet hours, our hearts and minds quietly awaken, reflecting, questioning, and seeking their own truths. Perhaps what we call overthinking is nothing but the soul’s gentle जागरण, a sacred stirring that nudges us toward clarity, authenticity, and our own path. 🌙

  1. Overthinking is never a blessing, no matter the hour, but you have expressed so beautifully the thoughts that wander through the mind during the sacred stillness of Brahma Muhurta.🙏💗

  2. I don’t know if it’s a blessing… but in that sacred early light, the thoughts we avoid stop chasing us
and simply wait to be acknowledged.
Thank you for reading it so gently.

  3. Rajeshwari ji,
You have portrayed 3 AM restlessness not merely as mental anxiety, but as a moment of inner awakening and that is its true spiritual grace. It is the hour when the outer world falls silent and the inner consciousness begins to speak. Your words suggest that this time is not about fear, but about self-realization.

The metaphor of “sitting without a remote” reflects not just helplessness, but also the state of witnessing when we cannot stop our thoughts, we begin to observe them. And the line, “we are both brave and on the edge,” touches that subtle moment of spiritual practice where a person stands between ego and truth.

This piece feels like a dialogue of the soul in the stillness of night a silent prayer that unfolds more in experience than in words.

    1. Thank you Vijay ji, I’m so glad the deeper stillness and inner awakening of that hour came through to you 💛 It truly means a lot to know it was received not as restlessness, but as a quiet moment of witnessing and self-reflection. Thank you for reading it with such presence 🤍✨
