Some Endings Should Never Be Rewritten

Open book with the title “Some Endings Should Never Be Rewritten” symbolising the beauty of meaningful endings.

If you could rewrite any book’s ending, which one would you choose?

If I could rewrite any book’s ending? Some endings should never be rewritten. Honestly… none.

.

Every book carries a piece of its author’s heart. The ending isn’t just a few final pages; it’s the destination of a journey the writer carefully chose. Some authors spend months, even years, finding the ending that feels right. Who am I to rewrite something they created with so much love, thought, and emotion?

.

I believe change is the only constant in life. But I also believe some things shouldn’t be changed.

.

A story’s ending is one of them.

.

To me, some endings should never be rewritten because changing the ending changes the meaning of every chapter before it.

.

It reminds me of our own lives.

.

If we were given the chance, many of us would rewrite a few chapters erase the painful ones, hold on to the happiest ones a little longer, or choose different paths altogether. But life doesn’t work that way. Every joy, every heartbreak, every mistake, and every triumph becomes a part of who we are. They shape us, make us unique, and become the very reason our story could never belong to anyone else.

.

Perhaps that’s why I don’t want to rewrite a book’s ending either.

.

Some endings make us smile. Some leave us in tears. Some stay with us for years. But they all belong exactly where they are.

.

Once they’re written, they become part of the story’s destiny.

.

And maybe that’s true for our lives as well.

Not every chapter is easy to read, but every chapter has a purpose.

.

Some stories are simply meant to end the way they do.

.

So no… I wouldn’t rewrite a single ending. Because the moment you change the destination, you don’t just change where the story ends… you change why it was ever told.

.

Some Endings Should Never Be Rewritten… What Do You Think?

So tell me…

If you could rewrite the ending of any book, would you? Or would you leave it exactly as it is?

Who knows? Your perspective might just become someone else’s favourite chapter. 🤍🦋✨

A stunning perspective. Your connection between a book’s ending and the unchangeable chapters of our own lives is so realistic. Beautiful reflection. Cheers.

Thank you so much! 🤍 I’m really glad the reflection resonated with you. I believe our endings give meaning to every chapter that came before them, and it means a lot to know that thought connected with you. Cheers, and thank you for reading so thoughtfully! 🦋🤍

    Dear Rajeshwari,

Beautifully expressed. I, too, would leave every ending untouched not because every ending is gentle, but because every ending reveals a truth that could not have been discovered any other way.

In Indian philosophy, destiny is not merely the final page; it is the silent thread woven through every chapter. Joy and sorrow, gain and loss, meeting and parting all become sacred when seen as steps in the soul’s unfolding journey.

Perhaps a story does not end where the last sentence is written. It continues quietly within the heart of the reader, inviting a deeper understanding of life itself.

Thank you for this thoughtful reflection.

    Warm regards,
    Vijay Srivastava

Thank you so much Vijay ji for your beautiful and thoughtful words. 🤍 I especially loved your thought that destiny is the silent thread woven through every chapter. That is such a profound way of looking at life. And you’re absolutely right perhaps stories never truly end; they simply continue quietly within the hearts of those who read them. Thank you for sharing such a meaningful perspective. It added another layer to my own reflection.🦋✨

What a beautifully thoughtful reflection. I love the idea that changing a story’s ending would also change the meaning of every chapter that came before it. That insight extends far beyond books—it speaks to life itself.

Your comparison between a novel’s ending and our own life journey is both profound and comforting. Every joy, every setback, and every unexpected turn contributes to the person we become. The closing thought, “the moment you change the destination, you don’t just change where the story ends… you change why it was ever told,” is especially powerful.

Thank you so much Verma ji for such a thoughtful and encouraging response. 🤍 It truly means a lot to know that the reflection resonated with you beyond the pages of a book. I’m especially happy that the final thought stayed with you, because it was the heart of what I wanted to express. I believe our endings, however difficult they may be, give meaning to everything that came before them. Thank you for taking the time to read so deeply and share such a beautiful perspective. It genuinely means a lot.🦋😂

Some endings are difficult to accept, but they are exactly what make the story unforgettable.

Thank you. 🤍 I’m still learning to make peace with some endings, but I believe they leave us with the stories that stay with us forever.🦋✨

It’s easy to comment and change what other’s have done, but difficult to begin and write your own story.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

So true. It’s always easier to rewrite someone else’s story than to face the blank page and write your own. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful perspective. 🤍

Rajeshwari, this is such a beautiful and profound reflection. I completely agree with your perspective—the ending of a story carries the weight of every chapter before it, and changing it would alter its very soul. The way you drew the parallel to our own lives is so poignant; we wouldn’t be who we are without those bittersweet chapters. Thank you for sharing this gentle reminder that some things are sacred and purposeful just as they are. The butterfly and sparkles add such a lovely touch to your heartfelt words! 🦋✨🤍

💯Agree. This truly made me pause and reflect. I love the way you connected a book’s ending with the chapters of our own lives. You’re right, changing the ending would change the meaning of everything that came before it. Some endings may leave us heartbroken, but they often carry the deepest lessons. Beautifully written, thoughtful, and deeply moving. Thank you for reminding us that every story, just like every life, deserves to be accepted in its entirety. 🤍📖

    Good afternoon, Rajeshwari! ☀️

I completely agree with your perspective, some endings should not be rewritten, because the author worked very hard on the endings. 👍

I was almost locked out of my account, because I signed out as my comments were being “blackholed” when I was just trying to show my appreciation to bloggers I’m following. Now, it seems to have been fixed.

Have a nice Monday ahead! ☺️

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much! 🤍 I’m glad we feel the same way about endings. Some stories are meant to stay exactly as they were written.

Oh no, that must have been so frustrating! I’m really glad everything is working again and your account is safe. Wishing you a wonderful Monday too! ☀️😊🦋✨

      1. Aptivi Avatar

Every story justifies its end through its own flow; whether we are satisfied with it or not depends on us. Your perspective is right.”If nice post ✨✨🦋

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you Nageshwar ji! 🤍✨ That means a lot. Stories may end, but the emotions they leave behind stay with us and I’m glad you felt that too. 🦋

Very nice, like God only knows how the story of his creatures is to progress or to end, similarly it is the prerogative of the writer to give suitable ending as per his thinking, if someone doesn’t like he can write his own story.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Beautifully said.🤍 Just as life unfolds in ways only God knows, every writer has the freedom to shape their story as they see fit. We may not always like an ending, but it is still the author’s story to tell. Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful perspective. 🦋✨

  13. DimmaJo Blog Avatar

To be sincere, I concur with Nihshab, because I believe changing the ending of already established something somehow changes the narrative altogether. This is another unique perspective and it’s a beautiful thought .

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you! I’m so glad we see it the same way. Sometimes an ending is meant to stay exactly as it is, because that’s what makes the story unforgettable. 😊

      1. DimmaJo Blog Avatar

        That’s true

  14. mphtheatregirl Avatar

I wouldn’t rewrite an ending either- it is the author’s work of after all (why change what they did)

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

I completely agree. 🤍Every ending is part of the author’s vision, even the ones that break our hearts. 🦋✨

      1. mphtheatregirl Avatar

Exactly- even changing an ending could easily change the genre it was supposed to be
