One Thing I Can’t Live Without | Nihshabd

A cheerful woman enjoying coffee with her dog, surrounded by books about humour and sarcasm, illustrating one thing she can't live without.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

What is one thing you can’t live without? My phone? Coffee? Money? Oxygen? Oh, the possibilities!

But if I have to pick one, I’d say my sense of humour.

Because life has a rather questionable sense of humour of its own, and somebody has to compete with it!

I can survive a bad hair day, a wardrobe malfunction, a Wi-Fi breakdown and even a Monday morning. But imagine going through all that without being able to laugh about it. Unacceptable!

My sense of humour has rescued me from countless awkward situations. Sarcasm is my survival skill, laughter is my therapy, and a little bit of madness keeps the machinery running.

I can live without many things, but one thing I can’t live without is the ability to laugh at life, especially when life is busy laughing at me!

After all, taking life seriously is exhausting. And frankly, I have enough responsibilities already. Why add unnecessary seriousness to the list? 😂

Now it’s your turn! What’s that one thing you simply can’t live without? And please don’t say oxygen; let’s give the obvious answers a day off! 😂 Tell me in the comments. I’m curious to know what keeps you going (and what makes you slightly unbearable without it)! 😂

Have you ever helped someone who later turned around to betray you? What did they do? You were there for them when nobody else was, you gave them money when you didn’t even have, you gave them food, you gave them shelter, you gave them your time, your advice, your connections, you even fought for them. You treated them like family, you trusted them with your secrets, you opened your heart for them. And when they finally stood on their feet, when they got what they wanted, they turned around and stabbed you in the back. They gossiped about you, they lied against you, they took your kindness for weakness. Who was that person, what did you do for them, and what exactly did they do to betray you?

One thing that I can’t live (or at least be ‘me’ without) without is my sense of independence. That is not to say I don’t appreciate someone giving me a hand sometimes – that is always appreciated, but my identity is very much around being my own good company. If I want to do something, like go for a walk, go out for a coffee, or even join a club, I just do it. If someone wants to come with me that is nice, but if no-one wants to I am not going to change my plans – I only need me to enjoy myself.

While I can enjoy going out for a coffee with a friend, I also genuinely enjoy sitting alone in a cafe, people or scenery-watching and would much rather be on my own than making forced conversation with someone I had persuaded to come just to keep me company.

A sense of humour is one thing, but having people who understand it is another matter altogether! Imagine delivering your best sarcastic remark and being met with complete silence. That can test even the strongest commitment to comedy! Haha. Happy laughing!

Rajeshwari, oh, I absolutely agree with you! A good sense of humor is something I wouldn’t want to live without either.

Life has a rather interesting way of throwing unexpected things at us, and sometimes the only sensible response is to laugh, shake our heads and wonder what on earth is going to happen next! 😅

I particularly loved your line about life having a questionable sense of humour and somebody having to compete with it. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head! Sometimes life seems determined to test our patience, so we’d better come prepared with a healthy dose of laughter and a little madness. 🤣

For me, humour isn’t just about having fun. It’s also about finding little moments of joy, keeping perspective and not allowing every difficult day to steal our smile.

And heaven knows, between technology having its occasional tantrums and the general business of being human, we need all the humor we can get! 😂

Thank you for another delightful read, Rajeshwari. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and the smiles you bring to blogland. ❤️

    Keep laughing, my friend! 🤗❤️
