What are your top 10 travel destinations?

My Top 10 Travel Destinations Aren’t All Marked on a Map

Not every journey begins with a boarding pass,
and not every destination
can be found on a map.

Some places
live only in memory,
yet they keep calling us back.

I want to travel
to the house where I grew up—

where every wall knew my laughter,
every corner hid a childhood adventure,
and every evening arrived
with the promise of one more game before sunset.

I want to return
to my grandmother’s kitchen,

where recipes were whispered,
not written,
and love always arrived
on a warm plate before words did.

I want to lose myself
in a little bookstore,

where hours slipped quietly
between the pages,
and the only deadline
was the last chapter.

I want to visit
the monsoon afternoons of childhood,

when paper boats believed
they could cross oceans,
and getting drenched
was never considered a mistake.

I want to find
the terrace beneath a sky full of stars,

where electricity cuts
felt less like an inconvenience
and more like an invitation
to count constellations
that we never really knew the names of.

I want to walk again
through the narrow lanes

where every neighbour knew my name,
every festival belonged to everyone,
and every door
felt a little like home.

I want to sit once more
beneath the old tree

that heard my secrets,
celebrated my victories,
and patiently watched
my impossible dreams grow taller than its branches.

I want to spend
one more carefree summer,

where mangoes stained our hands,
icy treats coloured our tongues,
and happiness cost
less than a handful of coins.

I want to stand
beside the sea,

not to watch the waves,
but to watch myself
forget the urge
to check the time.

And above all,

I want to meet
the version of myself 🦋
I left behind somewhere—

the one who laughed
without worrying who was watching,
trusted without hesitation,
dreamed without calculating,
and believed
that tomorrow would always wait.

Perhaps the greatest destinations
are not countries or cities.

They are forgotten afternoons,
unfinished conversations,
the fragrance of home,
the warmth of familiar hands,
and the pieces of ourselves
we spend a lifetime trying to find again.

Because the most unforgettable journeys
don’t always require a passport.

Sometimes,
they simply ask us
to close our eyes…
and remember.🦋✨

.

Until the next whisper…

How beautiful and nostalgic. There are places that don’t appear on any map, but they live forever in our memories and hearts. Sometimes, the most special journey is returning, even for just a moment, to those times that made us happy. Thank you for sharing something so personal and full of memories.

Wow, this hit so close to home. The line about electricity cuts being an invitation to count stars completely unlocked a core memory for me. Beautiful piece.

Rajeshwari, this is absolutely breathtaking. 🌸

You took the classic “top 10 destinations” prompt and completely transformed it into a soulful, inward journey. I felt like I was right there with you—sailing paper boats in the monsoon, counting nameless constellations on that starry terrace, and lingering in the warmth of your grandmother’s kitchen.

The part that resonated most deeply was your desire to meet “the version of myself I left behind.” It’s such a gentle, poignant reminder that our truest adventures are often the ones we take back in time. And those blue butterflies 🦋 you paired with the stars ✨ perfectly capture the fragile, magical, unburdened spirit of that past self.

Thank you for sharing this piece of your heart. It’s a beautiful invitation for all of us to close our eyes and wander back home.

    Until the next whisper! 💫

This is such a beautiful piece. It gently reminds us that the places we miss the most are often memories, not destinations. Every paragraph feels like a quiet conversation with the heart. 💕

How do you write like this, Rajeshwari? It feels as though you begin thinking exactly where the rest of us run out of thoughts. Reading your work is never just reading; it’s an experience. Every piece leaves me feeling a little quieter, a little fuller, and a little more connected to myself. Keep writing. Thank you for seeing my heart in my words and for always encouraging me so generously. I’m truly grateful. 🦋✨

    Great sharing.

Yes very true, the best journeys are down the memory lane. And mostly the places connected with our memories might still be there, but we can’t get that experience again, since we may not be the same person now and the people who made that place special for us may not be there and also may not have remained such.

The doors in the neighborhood which always appeared inviting us may not recognise us.

The only option remains that we not only travel to that place but also to that time, if possible.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much Krishna ji🤍 I couldn’t have said it better. You’re absolutely right the place may still exist, but the people, the moments, and even the version of ourselves that belonged there are often gone. That’s why some journeys can only be completed in our hearts and memories. I’m so glad my post resonated with you. 🦋✨

What a beautifully written journey through memory and nostalgia. ❤️ Your “top 10 destinations” are not places on a map, but pieces of a life that shaped the heart. The grandmother’s kitchen, monsoon afternoons, the old tree, and finally meeting the younger self—each image feels deeply personal yet wonderfully universal.

A gentle reminder that sometimes the most meaningful journeys are the ones that take us back to who we once were. Truly beautiful and soul-stirring. 🙏

Thank you so much for your thoughtful words Verma ji 🤍 You’ve understood exactly what I was trying to express, and that means a great deal to me. The Obligation to pursue justice among our people not anything that depends upon Heaven above. Fear of Heaven – a person strives throughout life to protect the inheritance of his good name reputation. Mitzvot do not apply to any of the so-called 7 Heavens above.

Xtianity suffers from an Av tuma: God on the brain syndrome. A disease that plagues the Muslim world as well. The Book of Shoftim instructs the bitter mussar that the 12 Tribes had yet to achieve the commandment of Yovel! The precise preconditions established by the talmid of Moshe Rabbeinu in the Book of Yehoshua. This post WWII fad, which breaks the disgraced Shoah church evil name, and attempts to switch to “Yeshua” as the identical name of JeZeus. However your Hercules son of Zeus – Harry Potter – has no Yichus – no tribal inheritance. Which the father alone determines – JeZeus has no connection to the mitzva of Yovel, nor brit melah – which remembers the Avot as the sole “fathers” of the chosen Cohen People.

Sucks being so reactionary blind that you cannot see the forest through the trees…so heavenly minded that you lose all the rational ability to discern a cheap counterfeit copy. The fundamental NT problem, your apostle Paul – told you that brit melah does not qualify as a Torah commandment for Goyim. To what does this stupidity compare? We Jews say your false messiah Man/god aint a Torah commandment of Moshiach because Goyim switch a Torah commandment with Greek theology just as the Koran does not grasp that prophets command mussar which define the k’vanna of all Torah time-oriented commandments.

Why? Because the “father” of JeZeus not a Man according to all the books of the four gospels! This makes the gospels into a myth Hercules Man/god who has absolutely no “Yichus” — tribal inheritance! A truly dumb ass ooops, fundamental insane error made by the gospels framers – Harry Potter counterfeit messiah. Based upon the critical בניני אבות – Yovel and brit melah – the basic fundamental requirements, required for any Yid in all generations of the descendants of the seed of the Avot – to sanctify the mitzva of Moshiach. A Yid who does not have a brit melah has no obligation to sanctify Torah commandments any more than a House without a foundation qualifies as something more than a temporary tent! G’lut Jews observe rabbinic commandments in order to remember should they merit to move to Israel, what it means to actually do mitzvot לשמה.

An uncircumcised Jew, clearly a בדיעבד status; for example the Book of Yehoshua opens with the descendants of the Wilderness generation getting a brit melah in the land. Just as its impossible to turn a pig’s ear into a silk purse so too and how much more so make a בדיעבד into a Torah לכתחילה. The Talmud compares it to a tuma Jew who tovel’s in a mikveh while holding a dead rat in his hand. The mitzva of Pesach not applicable to Goyim because they have no brit melah. Brit melah an Av wisdom time-oriented Torah commandment. Pesach functions as the בנין אב whereby Jews learn the k’vanna wisdom of the time-oriented commandment – Yovel – tribal freedom/liberty in the land of physically conquered Canaan, based upon the בנין אב of the tuma Wilderness generation contrasted by the generation of tohor Yehoshua who strove to sanctify the mitzva of Yovel in the land.

Young David referred to Goliath as an uncircumcised Philistine! G’lut statute law halacha not the same as the Mishnaic לכתחילה of Sanhedrin courtroom common law צדק צדק תרדוף. G’lut statute law halachic codifications function only as a coping mechanism to aid Jews survive some type of Jewish identity intact under the horrors of g’lut Par’o like oppressions – blood libels forced population transfers taxation without representation pogroms … shoah. Hence the statute law Roman Senate decrees duplicates the Constitution by British Parliamentary law; where the British courts have no authority to overturn Parliament decrees of law. Assimilated Jewish halachic law codes codify the religion of Judaism in g’lut. They do not shape nor determine Sanhedrin common law courtrooms לכתחילה after the liberty of the 12 tribal yichus and the time-oriented commandment brit melah which requires the k’vanna to remember that the brit sworn to the Avot — that only they would father the chosen Cohen people. The “t’shuva” made by HaShem on Yom Kippur wherein the vow to make Moshe the father of the Cohen people proves the k’vanna of brit melah! T’shuva as different from ‘Goyim repentance’, as Moshiach – a Torah commandment – as different from the Sinai לשמה – who commands the revelation of the Torah at Sinai.

A Jew who fled from the chaos of the collapsed USSR, many of them had no brit melah. For them to observe Pesach לכתחילה rather than בדיעבד – they had to first get a brit melah. The mother determines the Jewishness of the child. The tribal yichus of the child determined alone by the father. For example, a Cohen requires that his father – not his mother – be a Cohen. This example applies straight across the yichus of all 12 tribes – the father alone determines a person’s tribal Yichus. In the current Jewish secular Jewish state where the Knesset Parliament rules as a democratically elected central government – the Torah לכתחילה which requires tribal yovel and brit melah as determined by the prophet Yehoshua Jews have yet to achieve. A Greek culturally influenced democracy does not compare to a Jewish tribal republic; anymore than does משנה תורה-judicial legislative review-compare to British statute Parliamentary laws.

The Book of Ezra ruled that the mother determines the Jewishness of all born children after Ezra commanded all Jews returning Jews to divorce their shikza wives. The case of the daughters of Tzelofchad in במדבר teaches that the fathers determine the specific tribe of the Jewish child. For example: aggada states that the Avot kept all the mitzvot. If so, then Yishmael – having a brit melah would have qualified to keep pesach along with Yitzak! However, Sarah following the brit melah of Yitzak terminated all doubt. She commanded Avraham to cast out this bondwoman together with her son – that only Yitzak would inherit the brit. What בניני אבות does Sarah’s ruling stand upon? The rejection of first born Cain’s korban. Brit melah no more a barbeque to heaven than the two sons of Aaron’s offering qualified as a wisdom time-oriented commandment. Hence both this and that rejected. The wisdom of all time-oriented commandments – a matter of the heart.

Brit melah not a biological fact; Torah commands mussar not history. As a father can annul his young daughter’s vow, so too can a baal – the vow made by his wife. A Torah oath not even G-d can annul, any more than the two legs of a right triangle – each separately – longer than the hypotenuse. The בנין אב for the distinction between a Torah oath from a תולדות vow, the difference between making a blessing from saying a praise. Blessings תולדות of שבועות. Praying תהילים only a lower שבח/praise. בראשית – ברית אש. What’s the Fire of the Brit? Torah oaths. Hence Mesechta Sanhedrin links the floods which obliterated the generation of Noach – the consequences of sworn false oaths.

G’lut Judaism bemoans the Assyrian g’lut for the inability to ascertain tribal lineages! However, the Torah employed the Goral to determine tribal yichus affixed within the land of Canaan; Assyrian g’lut does not over-ride the employment of the Goral mitzva anymore than does the yichus of a man – living in the tribe of his wife – changes the borders of that tribe – as originally established by that Goral mitzva. A dispute over how to “interpret” the Goral mitzva, like any other halacha requires a Great Sanhedrin court ruling. For example: the Goral of Gad yichus affixed to the Golan inclusive of Damascus; or the Goral of Reuven yichus affixed to Gaza.

G’lut rabbinic opinions do not possess the authority to overrule opinions made by a sitting Sanhedrin court; 1000 year old opinions do not qualify as הלכה למעשה. A modern Goral which affixes the yichus of the examples of Reuven and Gad has never existed. It would require a Sanhedrin court to issue such a Goral. The Sanhedrin Courts system not dependent upon a Cohen HaGadol nor Urim veTummin. While the Cohen HaGadol serves as the primary בנין אב for the mitzva of Moshiach from the Torah, צדק צדק תרדוף mitzva affixed to the establishment of large and small Capital Crimes Sanhedrin courtrooms.

Moshe Rabbeinu did not take Israel out of the judicial oppression of Par’o and his vertical ‘Star Courts’ in order to copy the ways of the Goyim who worship their Gods by building Great Cathedrals or Temples. Yetro clearly instructed a powerful mussar, that Moshe himself alone could never judge the entire nation with צדק. That the tribes of Reuven & Gad sat outside the land of Canaan addressed a בדיעבד situation based upon the pre-conditions Moshe placed upon these tribes to serve as the tip of the spear to assure that the other tribes inherited the land of Canaan.

Post the disaster of the Bar Kochba Revolt and the Roman expulsion and name change over to Palestine-Syria, the publication of the Mishna in 210 CE could not refer to Sanhedrin courtroom rulings of the past because throughout the בית שני period the mitzva of Yovel דאורייתא never observed. Therefore despite a Great Sanhedrin court in Jerusalem the small Sanhedrin courts and Cities of Refuge never resumed throughout the בית שני. The Great Sanhedrin could no more try Herod than the Sanhedrin in the days of Napoleon could demand that France immediately surrender to England or Russia! Yovel liberty of the 12 tribes and Sanhedrin משנה תורה legislative review – both dependent upon Jews conquering the land of Canaan, like as occurred post the 1967 Six Day War.

The monsoon paper boats and counting constellations during the power cuts undid me — those are exactly the ‘destinations’ no itinerary can book. As a family who travels a lot, this is my quiet hope and fear rolled together: that years from now our kids won’t remember the famous sights so much as the mango-stained afternoons in between. Beautiful, Rajeshwari.

Rajeshwari ji, this is not merely a list of destinations it is a beautifully written map of the heart.

What touched me most is the thought that some of the places we long to return to are not places at all, but versions of ourselves that once lived there. Childhood, a grandmother’s kitchen, a monsoon afternoon, an old tree, a familiar lane these are not memories we simply remember; they are little fragments of the self we unknowingly left behind.

Perhaps that is why the deepest journeys are not always outward. Sometimes, we travel through years only to arrive at a forgotten room within ourselves, where an older, freer version of who we were is still quietly waiting.

Beautifully written, Rajeshwari ji. This one doesn’t merely ask the reader to remember it gently teaches us where to look for the parts of ourselves that time could not completely take away.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Your words have truly touched my heart Vijay ji. 🤍I don’t think I could have asked for a more beautiful response to something I wrote. I smiled when I read, “some of the places we long to return to are not places at all, but versions of ourselves that once lived there.” What a profoundly beautiful thought. I feel as though you’ve gently uncovered a layer of my own writing that even I hadn’t fully realized was there.🦋

Perhaps that’s why we write to discover ourselves a little more with every story, and sometimes to find pieces of ourselves through the eyes of someone who reads us with such care and understanding. Thank you for taking the time not just to read my words, but to truly feel them. Comments like yours remind me that writing is not about perfect sentences; it’s about creating a quiet connection between two hearts. I’m deeply grateful for your kindness and for the beautiful perspective you’ve shared. It is a gift I will carry with me. 🦋✨

_Sanitize your thoughts to sanitize your life! Life does not happen to you. It responds to you. Life responds to your: thoughts, words and actions. What you think of affects what you say and what you say affects what you do. Think good thoughts about yourself and others. Your mind can’t process good and evil simultaneously. If you think good about yourself and evil for others, evil will dominate your mind, and eventually manifest in your life!_

_Whatever we surrender our minds to, will eventually shape our character and define the quality of our life. Be careful what you surrender your mind to, even if it’s only for a day, or an hour. The mind is very important. It’s the door to your spirit and it’s also the door from your spirit out, to bring something into the natural world. Get the right information from God’s word, and your mindset towards life would change._
