The Best Excuse I’ve Heard Lately (And Yes, I’m Guilty Too!)

Cute featured image for “The Best Excuse I’ve Heard Lately” by Nihshabd, featuring funny excuses, a coffee mug, and a notebook in a playful pastel theme.

What is the best excuse you’ve heard lately?

Honestly, I think excuses deserve their own Hall of Fame. 🏆

Some people have talent.
Some have degrees.
And then there are those who can invent an excuse faster than Google loads.

One of my all-time favorites?

“I was going to reply… but I forgot.”

Forgot?

Interesting.

You remembered to post four stories,
liked twenty-seven reels,
commented “Awwww so cuteee 😍” on your friend’s vacation photos,
and somehow…

my message slipped into another dimension.

Technology has advanced.
Apparently selective memory has too. 🤭

Then comes the classic.

“I’m too busy.”

Which usually means…

“I’m busy doing literally everything except the thing I promised you.”

No judgment.

I’ve used that one too.

Usually while rearranging my bookshelf,
watering plants that didn’t ask for water,
or convincing myself that watching just one reel is practically self-care.

Forty-eight reels later…

I’m somehow researching the emotional life of penguins. 🐧😂

The truth is…

The best excuses aren’t the ones we tell other people.

They’re the ones we whisper to ourselves.

“I’ll start on Monday.”

“Five more minutes.”

“This is the last episode.”

“I’ll call them tomorrow.”

Poor Monday.

It arrives every week with so much hope…
only to discover it’s been blamed for our laziness since the beginning of time. 😂

So here’s my question…

What’s the best excuse you’ve heard lately?

The funniest one?
The weirdest one?
Or the one that was so convincing… you almost believed it yourself?

No judgment.

Because deep down…

we’re all honorary members of the International Association of Professional Excuse Makers. 🤝😌

Just don’t say…

“Sorry, I didn’t see your message.”

In 2026.

With Read Receipts ON.

Now that deserves an Oscar. 🏆😂🤍🦋

.

Until the next whisper… 🤍
With love,
Rajeshwari 🧿💕

What a delightful read! 😄 I was smiling from beginning to end. Your wit, timing, and relatable observations turn an everyday habit into a laugh-out-loud reflection on human nature.

I especially loved this line: “The best excuses aren’t the ones we tell other people. They’re the ones we whisper to ourselves.” That is both humorous and profoundly true.

“Poor Monday. It arrives every week with so much hope” – Monday really has been carrying the blame for all of us since the beginning of time. But the one that got me was the slide from “just one reel” to researching the emotional life of penguins. That isn’t an excuse, that’s a documented expedition. Best one I’ve heard lately came from our youngest, who couldn’t come help because he was, and I quote, “already in the middle of resting.” Genuinely hard to argue with that level of honesty.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Hahaha… 🤣 “Already in the middle of resting” is brilliant! I don’t think anyone could argue with that either. 😄 Thank you so much for this wonderful comment I was smiling all the way through reading it. 🤍🦋

    Dear Rajeshwari ji,

What a delightful and brilliantly relatable piece! 😊

Reading this, I couldn’t help but imagine Harishankar Parsai smiling somewhere and saying that if human beings invested even half the creativity they pour into inventing excuses into accepting the truth, the world would be a far more honest place. 😄

And then Osho would gently remind us that the most convincing excuses are never the ones we offer others they are the ones we whisper to ourselves. Those quiet little stories become so familiar that comfort begins to masquerade as necessity.

What I loved most is that you laughed at yourself before laughing at anyone else. That transforms humor into wisdom and satire into self-awareness. The “Poor Monday…” passage was not merely funny it was a mirror reflecting one of humanity’s oldest habits. 😂

Perhaps excuses are not our greatest weakness after all; they simply reveal that our priorities are often more truthful than our promises.

Thank you for giving us something that made us laugh, reflect, and recognize a little of ourselves all at the same time.

    Warm regards,
    Vijay

Thank you so much Vijay ji 🤍for your beautiful and thoughtful comment. 😊 I really enjoyed reading it. I loved how you brought together the thoughts of Harishankar Parsai ji and Osho it added a whole new perspective to the post. You’re right, sometimes the hardest excuses to recognise are the ones we make to ourselves.🤍✨

I’m so happy the post made you laugh while also giving you something to think about. That was exactly what I hoped for when I wrote it. Thank you for taking the time to share such a meaningful reflection. It truly means a lot to me. 🙏🦋✨

Haha. The read receipts line finished the excuse industry! Some excuses deserve an Oscar, and some deserve a facepalm 😂👏

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Hahaha… I’m so glad that line landed! 🤣 Some excuses really do deserve an Oscar… while others deserve nothing more than a good facepalm. 😂 Thank you so much for the laughs! 🤍🦋

    This made my day 😂🤍
From penguins to Mondays… I felt personally attacked and entertained at the same time.
Best excuse I heard recently: _“My charger was judging me so I couldn’t reply”_
No judgment here… just applause for the Oscar-worthy performance 👏🏆
    Going to subscribe @500subs, congratulations 🎉 🎉👏

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Hahaha… “My charger was judging me” is officially Hall of Fame material! 😂🏆 And thank you so much Arif ji! Yes… I’ve just reached 500 subscribers. Still smiling from that! 🎉🤍

      1. khanG Arif Avatar

Nihshabd Blog Ji, this comment literally made me laugh out loud! 😂

“Penguins to Mondays” — I felt that on a spiritual level. And honestly, you caught me red-handed with the charger excuse. Next time, I’ll come up with something more creative… maybe “my WiFi was having an existential crisis” 😄

Jokes aside, your words genuinely warmed my heart. Knowing that my little corner of the internet could make someone smile — and even earn an Oscar-worthy applause — means more than you know. 🏆

And yes, 500 subscribers! 🎉 It still feels surreal. Every single one of you who hits that button isn’t just a number — you’re the reason I keep showing up, keep writing, keep creating. This milestone isn’t mine alone; it’s ours. 🤍

Thank you for being here. Thank you for the laughter. Thank you for making this journey beautiful.

Here’s to many more penguins, random excuses, and shared smiles ahead. Sending you a virtual high-five and a warm hug from this side of the screen. 🙌💛

        With love and gratitude,
        Arif ✨
