The Only Thing That Can Silence My Mind… Is Music. 🎶

The Only Thing That Can Silence My Mind Is Music – headphones with a peaceful musical theme by Nihshabd.

Some storms don’t happen outside. They happen quietly inside us. The only thing that can silence my mind is music.

What’s the best way to deal with negative thoughts?

Have you ever noticed something?

.

Negative thoughts don’t arrive with loud footsteps.

.

They quietly slip into your mind… find a comfortable corner… and before you realise it, they’ve started paying emotional rent.

.

You change your place.
You keep yourself busy.
You scroll.
You cook.
You clean.
You tell yourself,
“Bas… enough. I’m not thinking about this anymore.”

.

Your brain smiles.

.

“Okay… but what if we think about it one last time?”

.

One last time…
Turns into fifty.

.

And that’s the strange thing about negative thoughts.
The more you chase them away…
the tighter they hold your heart.
I’ve realised something over the years.

.

When thoughts reach the mind, logic can sometimes help.

But when they sink into the heart…

.

logic loses.
Advice loses.
Distraction loses.
Only music knows the way in.

.

A familiar song doesn’t ask what happened.
It doesn’t judge.
It doesn’t interrupt.
It simply wraps itself around your heart until the noise inside begins to soften.

.

Slowly…
the breathing becomes easier.
The chest doesn’t feel as heavy.
The thoughts don’t disappear overnight…
they simply stop controlling you.
That’s the magic of music.
It doesn’t erase pain.

.

It creates a little space between you and your pain.
Sometimes that tiny space is enough to breathe again.

.

So these days, when my mind starts writing stories that reality never wrote…
I don’t argue with it anymore.
I put on my headphones.
Close my eyes.
And let the music do what words never could.

.

Because some medicines aren’t found in pharmacies…
They’re hiding inside a favourite song. ❤️🎧

.

Keep listening… sometimes music says what words cannot.

With love,

—Rajeshwari 🧿💕

    Dear Rajeshwari,

This is beautifully written and resonates on such a deep level. You captured that invisible war perfectly—how negative thoughts sneak in with “quiet footsteps” and start paying “emotional rent.” That cycle of “one last time turning into fifty” is so painfully relatable.

You brilliantly answered your own question: the best way to deal with them isn’t always to fight or argue with logic. As you said, when they sink into the heart, words and advice often lose. What makes your insight so powerful is that music doesn’t try to fix or erase the pain; it simply creates that “tiny space” between you and the heaviness. That space is exactly what we need to breathe again.

Thank you for sharing this gentle, honest reminder. Please keep letting the music heal you and keep letting your beautiful words flow. Sometimes, only those who have felt the storm can describe the calm so perfectly. 🎧❤️

I loved what you said about music creating that tiny space to breathe again. That’s exactly how it feels to me. It doesn’t solve everything, but it gently reminds us that we can make it through one more moment.
Your kindness and encouragement truly mean a lot. Thank you for this beautiful reflection and for reminding me why I keep writing. Wishing you peace, healing, and plenty of music for your own journey too. 🎶✨

Music is that hug that I personally is from God. The medicine that can heal anything. A You put it so succinctly; “It simply wraps itself around your heart until the noise inside begins to soften.”

One last time turning to 50 is so damn relatable. Mine used to zoom to 500, until I was down to my knees!! Yes…I play my favorite therapy playlist and just let it do what it does best. A hard but good cry later, the sun feels yellow again instead of grey and life feels more livable!

I won’t tire of saying this…someday if I get bored of writing AND I happen to get so damn famous that it warrants a biography of me, I am knocking your door Rajeshwari🤓😁🥹 You just seem to know everything about what it is like being me!!

This has been a much needed post! Therapeutic, funny, profound. 💓💕💓💕

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Oh, you’ve just made me smile from ear to ear! 🥹💖 Thank you for this beautiful comment. I loved your line about the sun feeling yellow again instead of grey that’s exactly what music does, isn’t it? It quietly carries us back to ourselves.

And if that biography day ever comes, I’ll be there with my pen, happily saying yes! 🤓😁 Until then, let’s keep writing the chapters ourselves—one song, one laugh, and one heartfelt post at a time. Thank you for always understanding my words so deeply. It truly means the world to me. 💕

Music does not silence the mind by force; it dissolves the observer into pure listening. And in that effortless awareness, many burdens quietly lose their weight.

Sometimes the heart finds its deepest prayer not in words, but in a melody. Where music begins, loneliness quietly ends.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

What a beautiful way to express it Vijay ji. Music doesn’t just reach our ears—it gently touches the soul. Sometimes a single melody can say what a thousand words never could, reminding us that even in our quietest moments, we are never truly alone. Thank you for sharing these heartfelt thoughts. 🎶✨

Great writing. Yes the power of music is unfathomable, there have been many successful experiments to use music for healing. When one is overpowered by negative thoughts there can be equally strong power like music that can take attention away from that negativity. We often feel nearer to God almighty through music only.
