Let It Go 2.0: When I Stopped Borrowing Other People’s Opinions

Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

.

Positive change?

Oh, I basically upgraded my life to “Let It Go 2.0” 😌

Earlier, if someone said anything, I would hold onto it like a precious package

.

open it, analyze it, overanalyze it…

and then replay it in my head like a full Netflix series. 🎬

“What did they mean?”

“Why did they say it like that?”

“Was there a hidden message?”

.

Honestly, my mind was doing overtime… without getting paid. 😭

.

But now?

Now it’s a completely different story.

.

Someone says something, and I just go:

“Not my circus, not my monkeys.” 🐒✨

.

Because let’s be real

people will always have something to say.

You could do everything perfectly, and still someone will go,

“Hmm… could’ve been better.” 😏

.

So I decided

they can talk, I’ll stay happy. 😌

.

Now I don’t take things to heart.

I treat opinions like random notifications

seen… and ignored. 📲❌

.

That mountain of overthinking I used to carry?

Yeah, I turned it into a scenic view

I look at it from a distance… I don’t climb it anymore. 🏔️

.

And the best part?

I don’t wait for a reason to be happy anymore.

.

Because I finally realized

peace isn’t a luxury,

it’s a choice… and I chose it.

.

A smiling woman sitting on a mountain hillside, letting papers fly away in the breeze, symbolizing letting go of thoughts.
Let go, breathe, and choose peace

  1. Beautiful share, Rajeshwari! ✨
Learning to let go and not overthink everything is powerful growth. “Not my circus, not my monkeys” — love this mindset! 🐒

    1. Sorry for the late reply 😊 Thank you so much for your beautiful words! ✨ “Not my circus, not my monkeys” really has been a game changer for me… choosing peace feels lighter every day 💛
Sending warmth all the way to Nairobi 🤍✨

  2. Ooh wow.. great awakening! When you stop borrowing you become independent and master ways to sustain yourself and have abundance to a level of lending.. lets connect, follow back!! Thank you and have a good day

  3. You’re right! 👍

One must not overthink of other people’s opinions and take them to heart, especially personally. And you’re right about this overthinking being a mountain of self-doubt that we should look at it from a distance. We all do our best.

    You wrote it beautifully! ☺️

      1. Thank you very much! 😊 You’re right once again. Your comments really have brought a smile to me ☺️

      1. Indeed, it is releaving the burden of pleasing other and making your happiness depend on the other people’s judgement. The key is to rely on yourself and your own judgement and not on what is out of your control

  4. Well penned, peace is a choice. I agree, overthinking proves counter productive. कुछ तो लोग कहेंगे….

    1. Beautifully said… peace truly is a choice 💛
      और हाँ, “कुछ तो लोग कहेंगे” so better to live freely 😊

  5. I love this write up.I don’t have to survive on people’s opinion. People will always have something to say no matter how you try to please them.

    Thank you for this 💖.

    1. So glad it resonated with you Onijamowo💛
Yes, we don’t need to live by others’ opinions being true to ourselves is enough. Thank you so much! 💖

  6. Rajeshwari ji,
I am sharing my thoughts on your beautiful and soul-touching write-up today though a bit delayed, for which I sincerely seek your forgiveness. 🙏

Sometimes, words too need a little time to mature… and perhaps this delay allowed me to absorb your emotions more deeply.
Your expression is not merely an experience, but a serene and luminous journey of self-realization.

The simplicity and grace with which you have woven the art of “letting go” into words truly touches the heart.

“Turning the mountain of overthinking into a scenic view” this imagery is profoundly powerful and philosophical.

It marks that subtle moment when the burden of the mind transforms into a path of inner practice, and the noise of thoughts dissolves into a gentle silence.

Your transformation is not only inspiring, but also reminds us that
peace is not an external achievement, but an inner choice one that requires awareness and quiet courage to embrace.

There is a natural depth, a silent truth, and a tender self-acceptance in your words…
that invites the reader not just to read, but to pause and reflect within.

Once again, I apologize for the delay,
and offer my heartfelt appreciation for this beautiful reflection. 🙏

    1. Apologies for my delayed reply Vijay ji… 🙏
I truly wanted to sit with your words before responding, because they deserve that kind of attention.
Your reflection touched me deeply… the way you understood and expressed it feels very special. I’m genuinely grateful for the time, thought, and warmth you poured into this.
It means a lot to know that those feelings reached you so gently… thank you for such a heartfelt and beautiful response 😊✨

  7. कुछ तो लोग कहें गे
    लोगों का काम हे कहना
Better to do what brings peace to our mind
