Favorite Apps on My Phone: Five Apps? In This Economy? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”ฅ

Favorite apps on my phone including WhatsApp, WordPress, Canva, Instagram and Procreate

What are your favorite 5 apps on your phone?

Five Apps? In This Economy? ๐Ÿ˜‚

What are your favorite 5 apps on your phone?

First of allโ€ฆ who decided Iโ€™m capable of choosing only five? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

My phone has apps that have survived my questionable decisions, witnessed my procrastination, enabled my creativity, stored my random thoughts, and probably know more about me than some people do.

And now Iโ€™m supposed to pick just five?

That feels less like a daily prompt and more like a very unnecessary emotional crisis. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But if I really have to pick fiveโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ“ฑ WhatsApp

Because apparently disappearing for three days and then replying, โ€œSorry, just saw this,โ€ is a perfectly acceptable communication strategy.

WhatsApp is basically where conversations happen, plans are made, plans are cancelled, family groups become unexpectedly active, and someone inevitably sends a โ€œGood Morningโ€ image before sunrise.

And despite all thatโ€ฆ

Iโ€™d still panic if it disappeared from my phone.

โœ๏ธ WordPress/Jetpack

My little publishing studio, notebook, idea warehouse, and occasional overthinking department.

Itโ€™s where random thoughts become posts, tiny observations turn into something worth writing about, and โ€œIโ€™ll just write a few linesโ€ quietly turns into an entire article.

And then comes the other important part:

Checking stats.

Because apparently knowing that seven people visited your post at 2:17 a.m. is somehow useful information. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

WordPress isnโ€™t just an app I use.

Itโ€™s where a lot of my thoughts get a place to live.

๐ŸŽจ Canva

Because not every problem needs solving.

Some problems just need better fonts.

Need a featured image? Canva.

Need a quote graphic? Canva.

Need something that looks like you actually planned it? Also Canva. ๐Ÿ˜‚

It has saved me from staring at a blank screen and thinking, โ€œOkayโ€ฆ but how do I make this look less boring?โ€

๐Ÿ“ธ Instagram

For inspiration, entertainment, creative rabbit holesโ€ฆ and the completely unplanned 47-minute research expedition on something I didnโ€™t even care about five minutes ago.

I open Instagram for one quick look.

Instagram: โ€œSure. See you in an hour.โ€

And honestly, sometimes itโ€™s genuinely inspiring. A beautiful illustration, a clever idea, a new creator, a random piece of information I didnโ€™t know I needed.

So yes, I blame the algorithm.

But I also keep coming back. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Procreate

Where โ€œIโ€™ll just doodle for five minutesโ€ somehow becomes an entire evening.

Procreate is my little creative escape.

Sometimes I know exactly what I want to draw.

Sometimes I open it with absolutely no plan and start making marks until something begins to look like an idea.

And sometimes the โ€œfive-minute doodleโ€ becomes a completely unnecessary three-hour project.

But thatโ€™s the fun part.

There are no notifications asking me to reply to someone, no stats to check, no algorithm deciding what I should see.

Just me, a blank canvas, and the dangerous thought:

โ€œLet me try one more thing.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Because Five Favorite Apps Were Clearly Not Enough ๐Ÿ˜‚

And yes, I have many more favorite apps.

Choosing only five was unnecessarily cruel. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

There are apps I use for practical things, apps that make life easier, apps I open purely out of curiosity, and apps that make me shop for things I didnโ€™t know I needed. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And then there are the instant-delivery appsโ€”which deserve a special mention from every mother.

Because kids come home from school and say nothing even after being asked 25 times. And then, at 11 p.m.:

โ€œMom, I need this for my school project tomorrow.โ€

๐Ÿ™‚ TOMORROW?!

A huge thank you to all the instant-delivery apps and their delivery heroes who save us moms from these last-minute school-project emergencies.

You don’t just deliver things.

You deliver survival. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™

But these five?

Theyโ€™re a little different.

Theyโ€™re not necessarily my five most-used apps.

Theyโ€™re the five that connect with different little parts of my everyday lifeโ€”communication, writing, designing, discovering, and creating.

Basically, my phone has its own tiny ecosystem.

And apparently, Iโ€™m the unpaid manager. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So, these are the five Iโ€™d keep if my phone suddenly decided to become extremely strict.

Now your turn: If your phone confiscated every app except five, which ones would you fight to keep? ๐Ÿ˜‚

.

Until The Next Whisper,

โ€”Rajeshwari ๐Ÿงฟ๐Ÿ’•

That five-minute doodle that becomes three hours I felt that in my bones. And yes, delivery apps are actual heroes. You’ve captured exactly why these five apps matter so much. ๐Ÿ’™

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha, Iโ€™m glad you felt that one too! ๐Ÿ˜„ Sometimes a โ€œfive-minuteโ€ doodle has a mind of its own. ๐ŸคAnd yes, delivery apps quietly save the day more often than we admit! ๐Ÿฆ‹โœจ

      1. Sheknowsallblog Avatar

The doodle that takes over is exactly right. It’s like it knows you need those three hours more than you do. And yes delivery apps are the unsung MVPs. Thank you for this joy, Rajeshwari.

Very nice, WhatsApp, Instagram and WordPress are common and then comes youtube for which my addiction is only a year old but now it takes my maximum time, then come Instagram and WordPress.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha, the other apps are pretty common! ๐Ÿ˜„ I actually keep a little distance from YouTube because Iโ€™ve thought about making videos many times, but the moment I see the camera, I suddenly forget how to speak! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Being an introvert definitely comes with its own little struggles sometimes.๐Ÿค

    Good morning, Rajeshwari! โ˜€๏ธ

Your list is wonderful! WhatsApp is essential for all of us as it’s where we communicate with our family. Canva and Procreate are also creative choices. ๐Ÿ‘

Instagram used to be one of my favorite apps, but it’s no longer my favorite after I made a mistake of letting it stress me out due to my messages that got no replies and my comparison of my account’s performance with my followers’ performances that were higher than mine.

    Have a wonderful day! โ˜บ๏ธ

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Good afternoon! โ˜€๏ธ Thank you so much! I completely understand what you mean about Instagram. Itโ€™s so easy to get caught up in replies, numbers, and comparisons. Iโ€™m glad youโ€™re choosing what feels better for you now. ๐Ÿค Have a wonderful day too! ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿฆ‹โœจ

My pleasure, Rajeshwari! You’re right about it ๐Ÿ‘ Thank you so much for your kind wishes! โ˜บ๏ธ

Itโ€™s all about management skillsโ€”the ability to organize your thoughts, time, resources, and efforts in a way that turns an idea into something meaningful. Creativity may give you the idea, but good management is what helps you bring it to life.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

So true, Asmita! ๐ŸคA good idea needs good management to actually come to life. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฆ‹โœจ

Life gets busy, and without realizing it, we start giving less time to the people who gave us everything.
We get caught up in work, responsibilities, and our own lives, while our parents quietly grow older.
One day, you may wish for just one more conversation.
Donโ€™t wait until you miss them to realize how precious they were.

Instant-delivery apps are basically magic say โ€œSim Simโ€ and your desired thing is at your doorstepโ€ฆ 15 minutes late maybe ๐Ÿ˜‚
But they are sooo addictive that I occasionally have to delete one just to break the spell. Hahaha ๐Ÿคฃ

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha, so true Kanishka! ๐Ÿ˜‚ These apps really do feel like magic until we realise how often weโ€™re saying โ€œSim Simโ€! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿค

What a wonderfully entertaining take on a simple prompt! ๐Ÿ“ฑ
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Youโ€™ve managed to turn five ordinary apps into five little windows into everyday lifeโ€”communication, writing, creativity, inspiration, and, of course, a little procrastination! ๐Ÿ˜„

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much Verma ji! ๐Ÿค Iโ€™m really happy you enjoyed it. I loved the way you looked beyond the apps and noticed the little pieces of everyday life hidden in them communication, creativity, inspiration, and yes, a little procrastination too! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Your comment made me smile. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฆ‹โœจ

  12. SRIKANTH Avatar

I absolutely love this! ๐Ÿ˜‚ The “Five Apps? In This Economy?” was the perfect title, and the slow build-up to the 11 p.m. school project crisis was a masterpiece.

“You donโ€™t just deliver things. You deliver survival.” is going to live in my head rent-freeโ€”it’s so painfully true for every parent! ๐Ÿ™

To answer your prompt: If my phone took away everything but five, I would absolutely fight to the death for:

    1. WhatsApp โ€“ Because my entire social life, 90% of my work communication, and the family group chat (where my dad sends “Good morning” at 6 AM) live there.
    2. Spotify โ€“ Do I even need to explain? Itโ€™s the only way I survive exercising, writing, and pretending to be focused on work.
    3. Gmail โ€“ We can pretend it’s the most boring one, but it’s basically the digital skeleton key to every account I own, so it stays.
    4. ChatGPT โ€“ For all the times I need to draft an email, explain a concept in 60 seconds, or ask “Why is my Wi-Fi not working?” without having to ask a human.
    5. Google Maps โ€“ Because my sense of direction is absolutely nonexistent, and I’d pretty much be trapped in my own neighborhood without it.

But truly, your list is a perfect reflection of a creative soulโ€”writing, painting, designing, connecting, and getting lost in the algorithm. (Also, “Let me try one more thing.” on Procreate is the exact moment a 5-minute doodle becomes a 3-hour commitment! ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Going to check out Rajeshwari’s page right now to give her some love and appreciation for this fantastic prompt! ๐Ÿ’›โœจ

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Srikanth ji, your comment made me pause at a few things not because they are different, but because I saw little pieces of myself in them. ๐Ÿค

Spotifyโ€”oh, I completely relate! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค I love having music playing in the background, and I often find myself humming along too. Iโ€™ve also seen quite a few birds fly away while covering their ears, so Iโ€™m guessing my singing isnโ€™t exactly their favourite! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฆ‹

And Google Mapsโ€ฆ my geography is so weak that sometimes I genuinely struggle to find my way home. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I always thought I was the only one like this, and now Iโ€™m wondering how I survived all these years without Google Maps! ๐Ÿ˜‚

And the way you mentioned your dad sending you โ€œGood morningโ€ at 6 AMโ€ฆ that honestly made me smile. Youโ€™re lucky to have that little morning ritual. โค๏ธ

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post so carefully and leave such a thoughtful comment. Some comments are read and forgotten, but some make you stop, smile, and feel a little understood. Yours was one of those. I honestly donโ€™t have enough words to express how much it means to me. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฆ‹โœจ

      1. SRIKANTH Avatar

Rajeshwari, your comment hit all the right notesโ€”and trust me, Iโ€™d know, because Iโ€™m usually off-key! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽต

Looks like weโ€™re both lost in the best wayโ€”whether itโ€™s finding our way home or finding kindred spirits in comment sections. Google Maps may guide the route, but your words guided my smile today. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿค

And hey, if the birds are covering their ears, maybe we just havenโ€™t found the right playlist yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Keep humming, keep wandering, and keep leaving little pieces of your heart in comments like thisโ€”they donโ€™t get mapped, but they sure get remembered. โœจ๐Ÿฆ‹

๐Ÿ˜‚ Choosing only five apps really is an emotional crisis! I loved how you connected each app with a different part of everyday life. And that โ€œTOMORROW?!โ€ school project situation is so relatable! ๐Ÿ˜‚โค๏ธ

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha, exactly Maha! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Choosing just five felt like a test I wasnโ€™t emotionally prepared for! And yes, the โ€œTOMORROW?!โ€ school project panic is a little too real. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค So glad you could relate!๐Ÿฆ‹โœจ

  14. Vijay Srivastava Avatar

The deeper point here is that our favorite apps quietly become mirrors of our priorities. What we repeatedly open, create, consume, and return to eventually reveals where our attention is being invested.

The real question, therefore, is not โ€œWhich five apps would I keep?โ€ but โ€œWhich five things deserve the best of my attention?โ€

Technology can connect us, inspire us, and give expression to creativity but attention remains the one possession we cannot recover once spent. Use the phone as a servant of consciousness, not as its master.

And perhaps the wisest app to keep permanently installed is silence because unlike every other app, it never sends a notification, yet it often gives the most important answers. ๐Ÿ™

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

This really resonated with me Vijay ji๐Ÿค I love how you took the conversation beyond just our favourite apps and brought it back to something much deeper where we choose to spend our attention. We often donโ€™t realise how much of ourselves we give to the things we repeatedly return to.๐Ÿค

And the thought of keeping silence as the wisest app really stayed with me. ๐Ÿ™ In a world where everything constantly asks for our attention, sometimes the best thing we can do is simply put the phone down, be present, and listen to ourselves. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฆ‹โœจ

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Exactly! 11 p.m. is definitely late, but apparently thatโ€™s when the school-project emergency department opens!๐Ÿคญ

And honestly, I have no idea why WordPress keeps sending your comments to spam. It sees your name and apparently thinks, Hmmโ€ฆ this looks suspiciously like a real human. Straight to spam! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Five apps in this economy – that opening made me laugh out loud. The WhatsApp description is painfully accurate too: the family group goes quiet for a month and then produces forty messages before 7am, complete with a Good Morning image sent before sunrise. I’d fail this prompt as well. My most-used app is honestly the camera, which feels like cheating as an answer.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha, that family group description is so accurate! ๐Ÿ˜‚ One minute itโ€™s completely silent, and the next morning you wake up to 40 messages and a whole collection of Good Morning pictures. ๐Ÿ˜„ And honestly, I donโ€™t think the camera is cheating you definitely deserve to count it! ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿค

Haha, I can totally relate! ๐Ÿ˜‚ โ€œSorry, just saw thisโ€ can only save us so many times before people start noticing the pattern. ๐Ÿซฃ And being bad at texting is definitely a real struggle! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Your line about WhatsApp and the “Good Morning” image before sunrise made me laugh. I think many of us are guilty of that three-day delay and the classic “Sorry, just saw this” reply too. It is funny how these little screens hold so much of our lives, from our overthinking departments to our daily chats.

Since I spend a lot of time on my own phone reading blogs like yours, I have to remind myself to look up. If your neck or shoulders ever get stiff while typing out those posts, try bringing your phone up to eye level instead of bending your head down. It takes a surprising amount of pressure off your upper back and keeps things moving a bit easier.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha, that โ€œSorry, just saw thisโ€ is practically a universal language! ๐Ÿ˜‚ And yes, you caught me I definitely need to remind myself to look up from the screen too. Thank you for the tip about keeping the phone at eye level; Iโ€™m going to try that. Sometimes our phones really do become a full-time job! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ“ฑ
