After thinking about today’s prompt way too seriously, I think I’ve finally found my answer. 😂

“If you could go back and witness any historical event, which one would you pick?”

At first, I thought witnessing some great historical moment would be fascinating. 🦋

Then I thought—maybe I should go all the way back and witness the beginning of the universe. 🌌✨

Then I wondered what women were actually doing throughout all those historical eras. Were they also just managing homes, raising children, cooking, and somehow keeping everything running while men were busy making “history”? 🧐

Then I imagined myself actually going back.

Wars. Crowds. Long journeys. No electricity. No Wi-Fi. No comfortable bed. And absolutely no coffee machine. 😳

And then I had a very important realization—

Why exactly am I doing this to myself? 😂

I’m perfectly happy right here.

At home.

With my coffee.

Let history happen wherever it wants to happen. Let kings conquer, explorers explore, scientists discover, and everyone else make history.

I’ll happily read about it from the comfort of my sofa. 😁

Because some historical events are much more enjoyable when you’re not actually there.

So, time machine…

Cancel my booking.

My coffee is still warm. ☕😂

    Thank God I was seated while reading this! I had a big ROFL moment! The way you put it, the journey sounds hazardous and way too tiring for my perimenopausal body. What was I thinking when I wrote my post!! I would rather sit with you, have a cup of jasmine tea and discuss and diss history to my heart’s content and have many more ROFL moments!     Rajeshwari, this was such a delightful take on the prompt! 😂☕ You managed to turn a seemingly serious historical question into a wonderfully relatable conversation about comfort, curiosity, and the simple joys of the present moment.

    I especially enjoyed the gradual journey—from witnessing the beginning of the universe to wondering about the lives of women throughout history, and finally arriving at the very sensible conclusion: “Why exactly am I doing this to myself?” 😂

    Imagine travelling back through time as a tourist? With a companion. There are possible 100 events and places across the world as a starting point. We could witness the event and rewrite history dispassionately – what actually happened.

    I would definitely like to join you for a “Coffee with Rajeshwari” episode. But if I were to go back to history would I really like to change anything? Every bits and pieces of human journey is so intricately interwoven I guess we change one tiny bit in one corner of the world and it will have a humungous impact on the rest. So let’s snooze over it, but no, the coffee should not go cold or should we make it cold coffee with hazelnut flavour ? What say you?

      Sorry. I thought the prompt was which historical event we would like to delete or change… I guess they asked this a few times before.

      I guess WP has forgotten we have already witnessed a lot of history from demonetization, to COVID to Iran US war. Aur kitna dekhenge?

      Haha, I agree Geeta ji! 😄 I don’t think I’d want to change anything either. History is far too interconnected, and one tiny change could turn everything upside down. But yes, the coffee definitely cannot go cold while we’re busy discussing all this! 😂☕ Hazelnut cold coffee with a warm brownie sounds perfect to me. Now that’s a conversation I’d happily have! 🤍

    History can certainly be fascinating from a safe distance. 😊 Perhaps witnessing one great event would satisfy our curiosity, but living through its uncertainty, hardship, and limitations is another matter altogether.

    Sometimes the wiser choice is to let history remain a story, while we remain present with the life we have. And yes, some conversations are better enjoyed with a warm cup of coffee.

    Great as always you write.
    You very cleverly put yourself away from this hazardous journey, where as you rightly said no coffee making machines and all the comforts of modern life, people who really matter carry swords and may start fighting any time, in our presence.
    There was no time as luxurious as we live in today, so why wander in dark lanes of history.
