Why Does the Butterfly Keep Finding Me? 🦋

Woman looking at a blue butterfly with “Why Does the Butterfly Keep Finding Me?
Daily writing prompt
If you had to get a tattoo right now, what would it be and why?

If I had to get a tattoo right now, it would be a butterfly. 🦋

Not because I have always loved butterflies.

Actually, I’m not even sure when this started.

People sometimes notice the butterfly on my bracelet.

Then they notice another one on my mangalsutra.

And then there is that little 🦋 I keep using on my blog, in my posts, almost everywhere.

And that’s when they ask me—

“Why are you so obsessed with butterflies?”

The funny thing is…

I don’t know.

I really don’t.

I never consciously chose the butterfly.

It somehow kept finding its way into my life.

Once, I even named a brand Titliyan with a few friends.

I don’t remember why I chose that name either.

I eventually had to leave it behind for personal reasons.

What I See in a Butterfly

Funny, isn’t it?

The name disappeared.

But the butterfly didn’t.

And maybe that’s when I started wondering whether there was something about this little creature that I was drawn to without even knowing why.

Because when I look at a butterfly, I don’t just see something pretty.

I see something I recognise.

Maybe it’s because I’ve always been someone who notices people.

Not just how they look.

What they carry.

The person who makes everyone laugh but is quietly going through something.

The woman who thinks she is ordinary but has an incredible strength.

Someone who doesn’t realise how kind they are.

Someone who has no idea that their presence makes a difference to other people.

I notice those things.

Maybe that’s why butterflies fascinate me.

Because a butterfly has absolutely no idea what we see.

She doesn’t know that someone might stop walking just to watch her.

She doesn’t know that her wings can make an ordinary afternoon beautiful.

She doesn’t know she’s beautiful.

She just is.

Maybe That’s Why I Love Her

And perhaps people are like that too.

Sometimes, we spend years trying to become something better, prettier, stronger, more successful…

while the people around us can already see something wonderful in us that we haven’t noticed yet.

And yes, I believe in the whole butterfly story too.

The caterpillar.

The cocoon.

The uncertainty.

The struggle.

The transformation.

The wings.

But what touches me isn’t only that she changes.

It’s that she becomes something beautiful without ever knowing how beautiful she has become.

Maybe that’s the part I understand.

Maybe that’s the part I love.

Or maybe…

I’m simply a woman who has collected too many butterflies over the years and is now trying to find a philosophical explanation for it. 😂

But if I ever get that tattoo, it won’t be because a butterfly has one fixed meaning.

It will be because, somehow, it has become a little piece of my story.

A reminder to notice beauty.

In people.

In life.

And perhaps, sometimes, in myself.

A reminder that I don’t have to know exactly where life is taking me.

A reminder that some of the most beautiful things about us may be things we haven’t discovered yet.

And perhaps, most importantly—

a reminder to keep my wings open, even when I don’t know where I’m going to fly.

So yes.

If I had to get a tattoo right now…

it would be a butterfly.

Maybe I’ve been choosing her all these years.

Or maybe…

she’s been choosing me. 🦋

Until The Next Whisper,

Absolutely! 🦋 I love how beautifully you’ve captured the essence of a butterfly—freedom, a free spirit, and the strength to rise above every struggle. The way you connected its journey with growth and transformation is truly beautiful. I genuinely loved reading this, and you’ve expressed it so wonderfully. Thank you for sharing such a meaningful piece. 🤍✨

Thank you so much! 🤍I’m truly touched that you connected with the butterfly’s journey. Its transformation feels like such a beautiful reminder that growth often comes through our struggles. 🦋✨

This is such a beautiful reflection 🦋 I love the idea that sometimes we’re drawn to certain things before we even understand why. The part about the butterfly not knowing how beautiful she is really stayed with me. Such a lovely reminder that we can be so much more than we see in ourselves. 💕🦋

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much! 🦋 I’m so glad that thought stayed with you. Sometimes we truly don’t see the beauty in ourselves that others can see so clearly. 💕✨

    Good morning, Rajeshwari! ☀️

Your selection of a butterfly is very great! 👍 Butterflies are such little beauties that make our days more peaceful. ☺️

Good evening! ☀️🦋 Thank you so much! Butterflies really do have a way of bringing a little peace and magic into ordinary moments. Perhaps that’s why they keep finding their way into my thoughts. 😊🦋✨

You’re most welcome, Rajshwari! You’re right, butterflies indeed bring a little peace and magic to simple moments. ☀️🦋☺️

Rajeshwari, this was absolutely beautiful to read. 🦋

I love how honest you are about not knowing exactly why the butterfly keeps showing up in your life—sometimes the most meaningful things are the ones we never consciously choose, but that somehow keep choosing us back.

Your observation about how a butterfly has no idea of the beauty it carries is so profound. It is such a gentle and powerful reminder that we are often blind to our own light, while others see it clearly. You have such a gift for noticing the quiet strength in people, and I think that reflects the beauty you carry within yourself.

And yes, perhaps you have collected too many butterflies to just be a coincidence! 😂

I absolutely love the idea of a butterfly tattoo as a reminder to keep your wings open, even without knowing the destination. If you ever do get it, it will be a perfect representation of your story. Thank you for sharing such a deep piece of your heart with us. 💙

    Until The Next Whisper.🤝

Thank you so much Srikanth ji for such a heartfelt response. 🤍 Your words made me look at the butterfly all over again. Perhaps you’re right some symbols keep choosing us until we finally understand what they are trying to tell us. And that thought about being blind to our own light truly touched me. 🤍

As for the tattoo… 😂 with the number of butterflies already following me, maybe it’s only a matter of time before one finds its permanent home on my skin! 🦋✨

      Until the next whisper. 🤝🤍

Thank you so much Kumar ji for such a beautiful compliment. 🤍 Your words themselves carry so much warmth. I’m truly glad my writing could flow into your heart and touch a little corner there. 🦋✨🌸

    Lovely thoughts Rajeshwari.
Butterflies give positive vibes and that’s why you are subconsciously attracted towards them.
    Same with me 🦋 🦋 🦋
    Thank you for sharing.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much Chitrangada! 🤍 I love that we both seem to share this little connection with butterflies. Perhaps they do carry a certain positive energy and sometimes, our hearts are drawn to symbols that quietly say what words cannot. 🦋✨

I agree with you that some of the beautiful things about us are things we haven’t discovered yet. If you will feel good getting that butterfly tattoo, why not go for it? Butterflies are such beautiful creatures to behold.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Absolutely! 🦋🤍 Sometimes, the most beautiful parts of us are waiting to be discovered, just like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. And yes, if something brings joy and meaning to us, there’s no reason not to embrace it. 🦋✨

  9. Vijay Srivastava Avatar

Sometimes, we don’t choose certain symbols in life; they quietly become a part of who we are. Perhaps the beauty of a butterfly is not merely in its wings, but in the unseen transformation that has already taken place within.

Human beings are much the same. We often fail to recognise the transformation happening within us until life gives us a reason to look back.

Perhaps some things are not really found by us they somehow recognise us first.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

This is such a beautiful thought Vijay ji🦋🤍 I especially love the idea that some things don’t need to be chosen they simply find their way into our lives and quietly become a part of our story. Perhaps, like the butterfly, we too are constantly transforming in ways we don’t immediately recognise. And sometimes, it is only when we pause and look back that we realise how much we have changed. ✨

Maybe some symbols don’t just belong to us we belong to the meaning they carry.🦋✨

I have a butterfly tattooed! And you’re right, it’s about a cocoon, transformation, and wings. It’s about letting go and, in doing so, finding freedom or, well, gaining wings 😀

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

I love how beautifully you’ve put it! 🦋 Sometimes letting go is exactly what teaches us to fly. May those wings always remind you of your strength, freedom, and transformation. 🤍✨

      1. mylittlehawk Avatar
        mylittlehawk

Exactly! That’s why I wanted to express it in ink, because their symbolism is really beautiful to me. Maybe that’s why we’re drawn to butterflies, because of what they represent – freedom and change, and freedom TO change! 🦋

The honesty of saying you don’t actually know why the butterfly keeps turning up is what makes this land. Most people would invent a tidy origin story. The bit about a butterfly having no idea what we see when we watch her – and how that’s true of people as well – is the part I’ll be thinking about. Titliyan disappearing but the butterfly staying is a lovely detail.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much for noticing those little details. 🤍 Sometimes, the things we cannot explain are the ones that stay with us the longest. And perhaps, like the butterfly, people too carry meanings within them that we may never fully see. 🦋✨

Very nice. Butterflies are among the most beautiful creations by God almighty.
On this also I remember very nice poetry lines of great poet Bharat Bhushan ji, where he tells what could be most heinous crime-

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Connecting a butterfly 🦋 and it’s journey to the life that we’re living is truly an art that you own. 💕
Thanks for this reminder 🎗️ to view life from a different perspective.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much! 🤍 I’m really glad the butterfly connected with you in that way. Sometimes a little change in perspective is all we need to see something in our own lives a little differently. 🦋💕

‘The name disappeared, but the butterfly didn’t’ is such a quietly good line. I like that you resisted the urge to invent a tidy reason for it — the bracelet, the mangalsutra, Titliyan, all of it arriving without a decision behind it is more interesting than a symbol you picked on purpose. Some things attach themselves to us and we only notice afterwards.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much! 🤍 I think that’s exactly what made the butterfly feel special to me too. I never really chose it—it just kept finding its way into my life somehow. And maybe some things don’t need a reason; we understand their meaning only much later. 🦋✨

The second I read the prompt I knew the butterfly was already taken! 🤩😍 The part where you say the butterfly doesn’t even know how beautiful she is… that’s what stayed with me.

I certainly resonated with that part. All my life… atleast for 4 decades of it, I was sure I was a catterpillar stuck in chrysalis stage. Ugly, unlikely to ever become anything of consequence. All the time swimming in self pity. Everybody around me thought I was a butterfly in the making…some recognised the wings, some the magic dust on the wings. Me? I was firm I will die a catterpillar. Weird, no?

Reading your post reminded me how blind I was to my own self. I was born a butterfly! Oblivious to my being… waiting to become what I already was!! Imagine!!

Thank God I turned 40! 🤣🤣🤣 It made me sit up and notice what I never did! And when I did… I couldn’t believe I was so blind to the truth!

So THANK YOU for this reminder… For a second I thought I will get a hypothetical butterfly too on my neck… Then I went with what I did write about. What an amazingly grounding post this is Rajeshwariji!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Oh, this made me smile so much! 🤍 The thought that you were already a butterfly but spent years believing you were still a caterpillar… that is such a beautiful realisation. Sometimes we really are the last ones to see what everyone else can already see in us. And yes, thank God for turning 40! 😂🦋 I’m so glad my post brought this thought back to you. 🤍
