If My Bank Passbook Had a Sequel

Illustration of a smiling bank passbook imagining a sequel with more deposits, fewer bills, and a happy ending.

What’s a Book You Think Deserves a Sequel? My Bank Passbook!

If My Bank Passbook Had a Sequel—I’d buy it without reading the reviews. Forget fantasy novels and bestselling classics. The only book I truly want a sequel to is my bank passbook, preferably with more deposits, fewer bills, and a guaranteed happy ending.

.

Most people would choose a timeless classic.
I didn’t even have to think twice.

.

Mine is… my bank passbook.

.

Once upon a payday,
it opened with great delight.
The numbers smiled,
the future looked bright.

.

Then entered the villains—
rent, groceries, bills,
school expenses,
and those irresistible online thrills.

.

Every chapter grew thinner,
every page sighed,
my balance became
something it preferred to hide.

.

The ATM looked at me
with quiet sympathy.
Even the receipt seemed to whisper,
“We’ll get through this… hopefully.”

.

So yes,
what’s a book you think deserves a sequel?

.

My bank passbook.

.

I’m waiting for the edition
where deposits arrive
without farewell speeches,
expenses learn some manners,
and the balance finally says,

.

“Relax… this story has a happy ending.”

.

Until then,
I’ll keep turning the pages,
hoping the next chapter
is written by good luck…
instead of my shopping cart.

.

If My Bank Passbook Had a Sequel, I’d happily call it the best financial fiction ever written.😎

.

With a smile,
Rajeshwari 🧿💕

I hope you write some cheques for me!

Haha… Deal! 😄 Let me get that blockbuster passbook sequel first, then I’ll start signing cheques! 😉💰

Rajeshwari, this is absolutely brilliant! 😎 The way you turned a mundane bank passbook into a full-blown financial drama is pure genius. “The balance became something it preferred to hide” – I felt that in my soul! 😂

And your closing line about hoping the next chapter is written by good luck and not your shopping cart? Chef’s kiss! 👌

I’m right there with you waiting for that sequel. May the next edition be full of surprise bonuses, silent rent payments, and a balance that finally decides to stick around. And with that nazar 🧿 of yours keeping the financial villains away, I have a feeling that happy ending is just a few pages away! 💕 Sending good financial vibes your way! ✨

Aww… this comment deserves a frame! 😄💙 Thank you so much Srikanth ji for reading it with such enthusiasm and for appreciating all the little quirks. I’m so glad the passbook’s financial drama resonated with you! 😂 And thank you for those wonderful financial wishes I happily accept every bit of those good vibes. May all our shopping carts behave, the financial villains stay far away, and our passbooks finally get the joyful blockbuster sequel we’ve all been waiting for! 🧿💰✨🙏

What a brilliant blend of humor, creativity, and everyday reality! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

Turning a bank passbook into the protagonist of a story is a wonderfully original idea. We may laugh at the playful imagery, but beneath the humor lies a truth that almost everyone can relate to. After all, we’ve all wished for a sequel where the balance grows faster than the list of expenses!

    I especially loved these lines:

    “Then entered the villains—
    rent, groceries, bills,
    school expenses,
    and those irresistible online thrills.”

What a clever way to personify life’s financial obligations! And the image of the ATM offering “quiet sympathy” and the receipt whispering, “We’ll get through this… hopefully,” is both hilarious and endearing.

Your comment absolutely made my day! 😊 Thank you Verma ji for reading so thoughtfully and for noticing those little details. It makes me so happy that the humour landed exactly the way I had hoped. The idea of making a humble bank passbook the “hero” just popped into my mind, and I’m delighted it resonated with you. Your kind words and encouragement mean more than you know. Thank you so much for always reading with such care and generosity. 💙🙏✨

😂 I wasn’t expecting a bank passbook to become the main character today… but now I’m rooting for its sequel too! 📖💰

Hahaha… 😂 Let’s hope its sequel comes with plenty of happy credits and very few debits! 💰📖 Thank you so much Priya! 😊🦋✨

    Good afternoon, Rajeshwari! ☀️

Hehe 😂 I enjoyed reading this. I didn’t expect that the bank passbook would be the main character, filled with different kinds of expenses. Nicely written!

I’m planning to take a break for 2 days in my weekend tomorrow as this week’s plans were exhausting because of the amount of work I planned to do, but I truly enjoyed this work.

Have an awesome day today! ☺️

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Good night! 🌃 Thank you so much! 😄 I’m so glad the humble bank passbook managed to steal the spotlight and make you smile. 😊 You’ve certainly earned that weekend break after such a productive week. Enjoy the next two days, relax, recharge, and come back refreshed. Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead! 🤍🦋✨

Don’t we all need bank passbook sequel with loads of cash details….😁, in my case, I need not one, but sequels for all of my different bank accounts….😆

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Hahaha… I love that Girish! 😄 May all our passbooks turn into long-running bestsellers with nothing but happy deposits! 💵🦋✨

Who would have thought! A bank passbook! What an ingenious idea Rajeshwari! 💯 I’m lovin’ this… Imagine all the zeros being added to the book as chapters!! Oooo now I want it to be a really, long book with as many pages as can be squeezed into it! What fun! I’m excited already!! 😁😁😁

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

😂😂 I love that vision! May every page come with a few extra zeros and every chapter end with a pleasant surprise instead of a shocking deduction. Now that would be a bestseller I’d happily read every month! 😄📖

  10. Rohini Avatar

What a marvelous book Rajeshwari. Every month it launches with the optimism of a fairy tale and concludes with the realism of a documentary. I’m rooting for the sequel where the balance enjoys character growth and the expenses suffer a dramatic reduction in screen time. 😂

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

😂 Hahaha… that’s the sequel I’m waiting for too! May the bank balance finally get its happily-ever-after, while the expenses quietly fade into the end credits. 😄

May I also buy a copy? A few notes inside every page perhaps 💵

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha… Deal! 😄 Here’s hoping that day comes soon! 💵😊

One needs to get inside Rajeshwari’s mind and see how it actually works 😉 which section of her brain do these thoughts come from. Simply brilliant! From Yesterday’s Mogambo to today’s Bank Passbook. Wah! Bahut badiya hai 😊

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Hahaha! 😂 I’m not entirely sure myself which corner of my brain these ideas come from… they just pop up, demand attention, and refuse to leave until I write them down! 😄 Thank you so much for always encouraging my crazy little thought experiments. 💙🌸

The bank passbooks always trail into sequels but they are generally woeful. I pray yours glitters.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Now that’s the kind of sequel I’m hoping for one with plenty of happy entries and no plot twists from the bank! 😄 Thank you Geeta ji for your lovely wish. 💙🦋✨

  14. samaysakshi Avatar

Great imagination. To make your bank passbook full of money you might need foreign funding since it is not a fiction book, or may due to some error in their computer etc. Anyway we should dream for the best for ourselves.

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha… I’ll gladly welcome any of those possibilities! 😄 And yes, dreaming big is always a good investment. Thank you so much! 🌸

Sometimes people expect you to slow down just because the calendar says you should. But age is not a limit on having fun, laughing loudly, or enjoying life. The best moments often come from refusing to let other people’s expectations define your spirit.

Growing older does not mean giving up your sense of humor or your adventurous side. It means gaining the confidence to enjoy life on your own terms, without worrying about what others might think or say.

The happiest people are often those who never lose their playful energy. They understand that laughter, excitement, and making unforgettable memories have no expiration date and no age requirement.

So if someone tells you to calm down because of your age, just keep smiling and enjoy the moment. Life is too short to stop having fun, and you’re never too old to live with joy, confidence, and a little bit of mischief

    “Best financial fiction”
Haha made me laugh so hard…!

Don’t we all wish we had a couple more pages or a sum dropping without a question every now and then…?

To a fictional dream that we all have on our minds…!

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Hahaha… absolutely! 😄 If only fictional bank balances had a habit of spilling into real-life accounts without asking for OTPs or explanations! Until then, we’ll happily keep turning the pages and dreaming. 💰📖✨

That is one sequel where everyone hopes the hero is called Salary and the villain takes early retirement. 😄

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Hahaha… exactly! 😄 May Salary make a grand comeback, and may the Villain retire without asking for an encore. Here’s hoping this sequel has a much happier ending! 🤞💰

I agree with you that difficult times teach us to listen more carefully, judge less quickly, and appreciate ordinary days we once took for granted.

This is a kind of message that lingers even after reading it. Thank you, Nihshab, for this wonderful thought

    Rajeshwari ji🙏

What a delightful blend of humor and truth! You turned something as ordinary as a bank passbook into a story almost everyone can relate to. I smiled at the “villains” entering one by one, and the ATM offering silent sympathy was such a wonderfully human touch.

Perhaps that’s the beauty of life we keep hoping the next page will surprise us with unexpected blessings. Until then, may our hearts stay richer than our wallets, and may every sequel arrive with a few more deposits, a little less worry, and plenty of reasons to smile.

A thoroughly enjoyable read that made me laugh and reflect at the same time. 😊

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much Vijay ji for such a thoughtful and heartwarming comment. 😊 It makes me so happy to know that the humor made you smile while the underlying message gave you something to reflect on.🤍

I especially loved your beautiful thought: “May our hearts stay richer than our wallets.” That is a line worth remembering. I’m truly grateful you took the time to share such a meaningful reflection and that you found joy in this little story. Your encouragement means a great deal to me and inspires me to keep writing. Thank you once again! 🙏🦋✨
