Tiny Sacrifices of a Dramatically Distracted Person 🌻

What sacrifices have you made in life?

People ask about sacrifices in life
as if I marched through storms
and gave up everything for greatness.

.

Meanwhile, I once sacrificed
an entire evening
trying to take one decent candid photo
only to use the first blurry picture anyway.

.

I have sacrificed sleep
to imaginary conversations
that never happened.

.

I have sacrificed productivity
to “I’ll just sit for five minutes”
and somehow became emotionally attached
to the floor, the ceiling,
and my own thoughts.

.

I have sacrificed money
to iced coffee, pretty notebooks,
and things described online as
“small little joys”
which is honestly
a very dangerous category.

.

I have sacrificed my dignity
while confidently waving back at someone
who was waving at the person behind me.
And since embarrassment was already guaranteed,
I finished the wave properly too.

.

I have sacrificed my self-respect
by checking the fridge repeatedly
as if new food appears
through manifestation.

.

And perhaps my biggest sacrifice of all
acting normal
after saying “you too”
to a waiter who told me to enjoy my meal.

.

So no,
I have not sacrificed kingdoms, dreams, or destiny.
But I have survived
many tiny embarrassments with remarkable courage. 🌻

I liked the level of realism that anyone can relate with …

I’m really happy Abhin it felt relatable to you 💛
Sometimes the most ordinary feelings connect us the most.🤍✨

This is wonderfully relatable and quietly brilliant. 🌿

What makes it stand out is the way it takes something often framed as grand or heroic—“sacrifice”—and gently flips it into the small, everyday moments that actually make up most of life. The humor feels natural, not forced, and it lands even better because it’s rooted in very real human experiences: overthinking, awkward social moments, small indulgences, and those oddly emotional five-minute pauses that somehow turn into whole moods.

This means so much to me Verma ji.🤍✨ I’m really happy the little everyday moments resonated with you, because that’s exactly where I feel most emotions quietly live. Thank you for reading it so thoughtfully and for noticing both the humor and the softness behind it ✨

What a wonderfully honest and tender poem, Rajeshwari. You’ve turned the grand idea of “sacrifice” on its head and reminded us that real life is lived in those tiny, clumsy, beautiful moments—the waved-at-strangers, the fridge checks, the blurry photos. Your courage to name these small embarrassments with such humor and grace is its own kind of greatness. Thank you for sharing this—it made me smile, nod along, and feel a little less alone in my own “you too” moments. 🌻

Srikanth ji, Your words felt like a warm conversation more than a comment 🌻 I’m really happy the poem could make you smile and feel seen in those tiny “you too” moments. Maybe all of us are just quietly collecting these little awkward, beautiful memories together. Thank you so much for reading with such kindness and understanding🤍✨

Rajeshwari ji, this was absolutely delightful
The way you turned everyday awkward moments into poetry made me smile throughout. “Emotionally attached to the floor, the ceiling, and my own thoughts” was both hilarious and deeply relatable. Tiny embarrassments truly are the hidden adventures of ordinary life

This made me smile so genuinely Vijay ji🌻 I think life quietly hides its sweetest little stories inside these awkward, ordinary moments… the kind we laugh at later and somehow end up cherishing too 😄 Thank you for reading with such kindness 🤍✨

A deeply relatable post, beautifully expressed with a blend of emotions. I, too, often recheck the lock after locking the door. Once, my son remarked that it reflects insecurity, but I believe it simply means being cautious, after all, prevention is always better than cure.❤️💐

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

So true KK❤️ Sometimes it’s not insecurity, just the heart wanting a little extra reassurance. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful thought. 🌻

Ha ha, sacrificing self respect around 10 pm and opening an empty refrigerator is something I can laugh about! 👌

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Haha 😂 The fridge may be empty, but the hope inside me never is.🤍✨

That is such a lovely compliment Amelia🌻 Thank you so much. It would make me really happy if these little thoughts could someday live inside a book.🤍✨
