What is your career plan?
I had many, honestly.
.
Some days I was supposed to become a famous illustrator.
Some days, a writer.
Sometimes I discover a new talent at 2 a.m. and immediately plan an entire successful future around it before sleeping peacefully like a visionary.
.
Homemakers are actually full of potential.
Dangerous amounts of potential.
.
We can manage homes, budgets, emotions, schedules, disasters, and people who suddenly remember important things exactly when we sit down to rest.
.
But somewhere between taking care of everyone else’s needs and postponing ourselves “just for now,”
our dreams slowly stop sounding like plans…
and start sounding like hobbies we apologize for having.
.
That’s the strange thing about homemakers.
We don’t give up on our dreams dramatically.
.
We just keep moving them to tomorrow so lovingly, so responsibly, so repeatedly…
that one day even the dream starts feeling guilty for existing.
.
And maybe this is true for so many women —
they never really stopped having dreams, ambitions, or career plans.
They just became so busy building everyone else’s life
that their own quietly kept waiting.
.
But I hope they never believe it is “too late” for them.
Because dreams do not expire simply because a woman chose responsibility before herself.
.
And one day, I hope every woman gets to return to the version of herself she once imagined
not as someone selfish,
but as someone finally remembering that her life mattered too. 🤍
.
Dedicated to all the women who kept everyone else’s world running while quietly placing their own dreams on hold.
.

Thank you for this heartfelt piece. As someone who has seen so many talented women around me quietly shelve their dreams for family, your words truly resonated. It’s a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to reclaim our aspirations. Would love to connect and exchange more thoughts on womanhood and homemaking journeys. 🤍 Keep writing! It is a universal phenomenon and many men actually undergo similar letting away of their dreams.

This is warm, genuine, complimentary, and gently opens the door for connection.
Thank you so much Aniruddha ji for such a thoughtful and heartfelt response. 🤍
You are absolutely right this is not limited to women alone; many men too quietly set aside parts of themselves while carrying responsibilities and expectations. Perhaps that is why these emotions feel so universal and deeply human.🤍
I’m truly glad the piece resonated with you. Conversations around dreams, identity, homemaking, and silent sacrifices deserve far more space and understanding. ✨
Agreed 💯
Thank you so much 🙏🏻✨
That’s really heartfelt ☺️
It’s not too late for a woman to reclaim her dreams, even though she chose her responsibility over over herself. Everything’s said here is so relatable!
Have a great weekend full of joy and excitement, Rajeshwari! 💜
Thank you so much ☺️
Yes… I think so many women will relate to this somewhere in their heart. Sometimes responsibilities come first, but dreams don’t really leave us forever. 🤍
And thank you for the lovely wishes 🤍✨
Hope you have a beautiful weekend too, full of happiness and good moments ✨🤍
You are most welcome ☺️
What you said about dreams is so true! 👍
Thank you for your lovely wishes! 💜
This is so beautifully written, Rajeshwari. 💛
Every word feels like a gentle, knowing hug to everyone who has ever put themselves last. The way you captured that quiet shift from “plans” to “apologetic hobbies” — it hits deep. But the hope you leave at the end? That’s everything.
Thank you for reminding us that a woman’s dreams don’t have an expiration date, and that choosing herself isn’t selfish — it’s reclamation. You have a gift for giving words to feelings so many carry alone. Please keep writing. The world needs more of this truth, wrapped in tenderness. 🤍
Your words genuinely touched me Srikanth ji🤍
Thank you for reading the piece with so much warmth and understanding. It means a lot to know that these feelings resonated so deeply with someone ✨ And thank you for such kindness and encouragement… truly 🤍
What a beautifully honest and deeply moving reflection, Rajeshwari ji.
You have given words to a silent truth that lives in the hearts of countless women dreams are rarely abandoned; they are simply postponed with love, duty, and quiet sacrifice.
The line “even the dream starts feeling guilty for existing” carries such profound emotional depth. It gently reveals how selflessness, though beautiful, can sometimes make a woman slowly disappear from her own story.
And yet, beneath every paused dream, the light still survives patiently waiting, not demanding, only hoping to be remembered again.
Your writing is not merely an observation; it is a compassionate mirror for every woman who kept nurturing others while quietly placing herself last.
May every woman someday realize that honoring her own dreams is not selfishness it is also a sacred form of self-respect. 🌹🙏
Vijay ji, Your words truly touched something deep within me. 🤍 The way you understood not just the writing, but the quiet emotions hidden beneath it, means more than I can express. You captured so beautifully how women keep pouring love into everyone else, while their own dreams patiently wait in silence.🤍✨
Thank you for reading it with such warmth, empathy, and grace. Your words felt like comfort. 🤍✨
What a profoundly honest and beautiful piece. You’ve captured a truth that so many women quietly carry within them — the way dreams are not abandoned all at once, but gently postponed out of love, responsibility, and care for others. The line about dreams starting to “feel guilty for existing” was especially powerful and heartbreaking.
Your words touched my heart deeply Verma ji. 🤍
You understood the silence between those lines exactly the way it was meant to be felt. So many women live this story quietly, smiling through responsibilities while softly folding away pieces of themselves. Thank you for reading it with so much empathy and warmth. It means more than I can express. 🌷
