What We Give, Lives On

What do you do to be involved in the community?

For me, being involved in the community begins with something I have been taught since childhood — Daan.
Whether it is Annadaan (offering food), Vidyadaan (sharing knowledge), Vastradaan (donating clothes), or Deepdaan (offering light), the value of giving has always been a part of our upbringing.

As an introvert, I may not always be able to participate loudly or publicly, but I truly believe kindness does not need attention to make a difference. Even the smallest act of giving can bring warmth, dignity, and hope into someone’s life.

.

Daan is important because it keeps humanity alive within a community. It teaches us gratitude, compassion, and the understanding that what we have is meant to be shared too. And if we stop practicing these values, the coming generations may never truly learn the beauty of giving.

.

That is why it is important that each of us contributes in whatever way we can. One person may give food, another knowledge, another time, support, or simply kindness. Every form of giving matters, because together, these small acts make a community stronger, kinder, and more humane.

What we give with love, lives on through generations.

  1. Amazing post. Best daan Vidya daan. Because it does not create dependence for further expectations of daan, but it develops the person to be independent.

    1. Absolutely true Aniruddha ji🙏✨ Vidya daan is perhaps the most beautiful form of daan… because it lights a lamp that keeps shining for a lifetime 🤍✨

  2. What a beautiful and heartfelt perspective, Rajeshwari. The way you’ve woven the timeless concept of Daan into your quiet, introverted strength is truly inspiring. You remind us that community involvement isn’t about loud gestures or public visibility—it’s about the quiet, consistent ripple of kindness that flows from a giving heart. Your words about keeping humanity alive for the next generations are especially powerful. Thank you for showing that even the softest light can chase away shadows, and that every small act of giving builds a kinder, more compassionate world. 🙏

    1. Your words mean so much to me Srikanth ji🙏✨
I truly believe that humanity survives through small, quiet acts of kindness passed from one heart to another. Thank you for seeing the emotion behind my words ✨

  3. The daan is full of gratitude and humanity. I agree that every single giving matters, whether it’s giving food, donating clothes, and so on… 👍

I found that in my opinion, the Vidyadaan, which is sharing knowledge, is truly the best; it makes a person independent, which is really great and is of a blessing! 👌

    Great one, Rajeshwari! 💜☺️💜

    1. Beautifully expressed 🤍☺️
I truly believe the same Vidyadaan is one of the purest forms of dāna because knowledge continues to light many lives long after it is shared. Thank you so much for such thoughtful words. 🤍✨

      1. You’re most welcome ☺️💜

You’re right! The vidyadaan is the purest form. Thank you so much for your thoughtful words 💜

Oh, and my weekend is very close; just one day left! I hope it goes very well for me, full of laughter and joy ☺️

  4. Beautifully expressed, Rajeshwari. 🌼
The way you described daan feels deeply rooted in kindness and humanity.
I loved the reminder that even quiet acts of giving can create lasting warmth.
Your words carry compassion, grace, and truth. ✨
A truly heartfelt and meaningful piece. 🧿

    1. Thank you so much Maha🤍 It feels really special when someone understands the heart behind the words so beautifully. Grateful for your kindness and warmth 🤍✨

  5. A beautiful perspective! There is a quote probably attributed to Jesus that it’s more blessed to give than to receive because generosity brings more joy, satisfaction and divine favour than receiving.🌼💫✨

  6. Rajeshwari Ji,
Truly, Daan is not merely an act of giving, but an expansion of the self. When a person shares a portion of their food, knowledge, time, or light with others, they do not simply fulfill someone’s need they keep compassion alive within themselves.

Through the line, “kindness does not need attention to make a difference,” you have touched upon a profoundly deep truth.
The greatest transformations in this world often happen in silence. Just as a lamp makes no noise, yet effortlessly removes darkness.

In today’s time, where people often mistake display for service, your thought that charity should arise from love and sensitivity is truly inspiring.

The truth is, future generations will learn less from our words and more from our actions. And if we forget how to share, society may become materially prosperous, yet inwardly impoverished.

    1. Thank you from the heart, Vijay Ji, for reading the piece with such depth and sensitivity 🤍 Your words felt less like a comment and more like an extension of the thought itself. The way you spoke about silent acts of kindness and the quiet light they leave behind was truly beautiful.
“Society may become materially prosperous, yet inwardly impoverished” this stayed with me deeply. Grateful that the thought resonated with you in such a meaningful way 🙂

  7. Well said Rajeshwari.

From childhood we were told not to boast about offerings and charity. Charity should be given with total humility.

We believe in satpatri daan. Giving or providing money, time, or resources to a truly deserving person or cause.

    1. Very true Rupali. Real daan is always rooted in humility, not in showing others. And satpatri daan helping the truly deserving is one of the purest forms of kindness. 🤍✨
