A Mark Today, A Better Tomorrow

Do you vote in political elections?

I don’t vote blindly
I choose.

Not for noise,
not for faces on posters,
but for the quiet hope
that my one voice
still matters.

They say it’s just a mark of ink
but I’ve felt its weight.
It carries dreams,
questions,
and the courage
to stand for what feels right.

Yes, I vote.
Because it is my right
and also my responsibility.

Because silence changes nothing,
but a single choice
can begin a shift.

In that moment,
behind a simple curtain,
I am not small
I am a citizen
with power in my hand. ✨

.

Ink-marked fingers raised in a voting gesture with soft sunset tones and “Nihshabd” title.
A quiet mark, a powerful voice. ✨

That’s so great! 👍 Voting for political elections is your right and your responsibility. You just need to choose the right candidate to vote for, and you’ll be part of a better tomorrow.

Your cover photo describes everything about it in a beautiful way ☺️

While we are all voting and discharging our duties, our elected representatives are not doing the bare minimum of enacting bare minimum laws that are needed for peace, progress and prosperity of all. The pattern is clear party A says that party B is responsible. Party C says that party B is not allowing us to work. Parliament has become a circus which has made our representatives a laughing stock for the World. Harsh, but sadly true.

You’re not wrong there’s a visible gap between what’s expected and what actually happens, and it can be frustrating to watch. But maybe that’s exactly why our participation matters even more. If the system feels noisy and imperfect, the only steady thing left is the voice of people who still choose to engage. It may not fix everything overnight but it keeps the idea of accountability alive. And sometimes, that’s where real change quietly begins.

This is a quietly powerful piece—simple in form, but rich in conviction.
What stands out immediately is your tone. You don’t shout, you don’t argue—you affirm. Lines like “I don’t vote blindly / I choose” set a grounded, thoughtful voice that feels both personal and principled. It’s not about politics as noise, but about citizenship as intention.

Thank you so much for reading it so deeply. I’m really glad the quiet, intentional tone came through because that’s exactly what I hoped to express. For me, it’s less about the noise of politics and more about the clarity of choice. 🤍✨

    Rajeshwari ji,
The way you have woven dreams, questions, and courage into that small mark of ink is deeply impactful as if, in a single moment, the entire spirit of democracy comes alive.

What stands out most beautifully is that the poem is never aggressive, yet it leaves behind a strong and lasting message that the awareness of an individual is the true strength of a democracy.

“A quiet mark, a powerful voice” this truly is the essence of your creation. The distinct beauty of your writing lies in its ability to stir a subtle yet profound movement within the reader’s inner being, without any forceful आग्रह.

I look forward to more such soulful expressions from you in the future.
    Vijay

But do we really get what we voted for?

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Not always… but maybe a vote isn’t a promise of perfect results…it’s a reminder that our voice still matters. Even when things don’t turn out the way we hoped, that one small mark quietly says, we haven’t given up. And sometimes, that’s where change slowly begins.🤍✨
