Good Person Qualities: Kindness & Humour🤍

Good person qualities – kindness, honesty and self-respect | Nihshabd

What does it mean to be a good person?

Are We Really as Good as We Think?

Good person qualities aren’t just about being kind, telling the truth or helping someone in need. They also include resisting the urge to give a piece of your mind to someone who has been testing your patience since breakfast! 😂

Being a good person sounds easy enough. Be kind, help others and behave like a saint. Simple, right? Until someone borrows money and conveniently forgets to return it, or texts “Can I ask you something?” and disappears for three business days! 😏

Suddenly, your inner angel and inner devil are holding an emergency meeting, and neither seems willing to leave.

So, what does being a good person really mean? Let’s find out, with a dash of sarcasm and absolutely no moral science examination!

Good Person Qualities Begin with Kindness

Kindness is one of the most important good person qualities. It means treating people with respect, helping when you can and remembering that everyone has feelings.

You don’t have to donate a fortune or save the entire planet before breakfast. Sometimes, listening without interrupting, offering a genuine compliment or simply being patient can make someone’s day better.

And please remember, kindness doesn’t require a social media announcement. You can do a good deed without posting a photograph, adding an inspirational caption and waiting for the applause! 😂

Honesty Is a Quality of a Good Person

Being honest doesn’t mean saying everything that comes into your head and calling it “brutal honesty.”

There is a difference between telling the truth and using the truth as a weapon. You can be honest without being hurtful, direct without being rude, and truthful without making someone question every life decision they’ve ever made.

A genuinely good person accepts mistakes, apologises when necessary and doesn’t blame the entire population for their own bad decisions.

Yes, even grown-ups need character development!

Good Person Qualities Include Self-Respect

Here’s something important: being good doesn’t mean being available to everyone, all the time.

You can say no without writing a five-paragraph explanation. You can protect your peace without feeling guilty. You can forgive someone without giving them another opportunity to repeat the same nonsense.

Being kind doesn’t mean becoming a permanent doormat with excellent manners.

If someone mistakes your kindness for weakness, you don’t have to prove your goodness by tolerating everything. Boundaries are healthy, and self-respect matters.

Remember, you are a human being, not a 24-hour customer care service for the entire world! 😜

A Good Person Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect

Nobody gets everything right. We lose our temper, misunderstand people, make silly decisions and sometimes say things we wish we could pull back into our mouths.

The important thing is what we do afterwards.

Do we learn from our mistakes? Do we try to understand another person’s perspective? Can we admit when we’re wrong without preparing a PowerPoint presentation explaining why everyone else is responsible?

Good people aren’t perfect people. They’re people who are willing to reflect, improve and try again.

And occasionally, they manage to keep a sarcastic reply inside their heads. That deserves a little celebration! 😂

Good Person Qualities: Kindness Without People-Pleasing

You don’t have to be everyone’s favourite person to be a good person.

Some people won’t like you even if you bring them tea, remember their birthday and help them move house. That’s life. You cannot control everyone’s opinion, and frankly, trying to do so sounds exhausting.

Be kind, but be wise. Help others, but don’t abandon yourself. Respect people, but remember that your own needs matter too.

You can wish someone well from a distance. You can disagree without being disrespectful. And you can choose peace without accepting every invitation to unnecessary drama.

After all, even a box of chocolates has one flavour nobody wants! 🍫😂

Your Turn! 💬

Now, let’s talk!

What qualities do you think make someone a good person? Is it kindness, honesty, loyalty, a good sense of humour or the ability to stay calm when life behaves like an irritating relative at a family gathering?

Have you ever been too nice to someone who took your kindness for granted? Or have you learned that saying “no” can sometimes be the kindest thing you do for yourself?

Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments. I’d love to know what goodness means to you. Your story might make someone smile, think differently or feel a little less alone.

If this post made you laugh, nod in agreement or think of someone who could benefit from a gentle reminder about basic human decency, share it with them. No names necessary. We’re keeping things kind here! 😉

Oh my goodness, you covered almost all aspects of being good, without becoming doormat for bad people.

We need to remain good to people until they tell through their behavior that they don’t deserve this treatment.

Though we often feel that the world is not much good for good people.

One of the qualities of a good person to me is giving their precious time. I so appreciate that.

    Your answer is beautiful, Rajeshwari.

You mentioned most of the good qualities Rajeshwari.
Honesty, kindness, wellbeing of others, compassionate are all ingredients of a good human being.
    Self respect is important too.
If someone crosses that boundary, it’s proper to protect your dignity.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful thoughts.

    Good morning, Rajeshwari! ☀️

That’s a wonderful reflection about the qualities of a good person! Being kind and caring while respecting ourselves is what makes a good person, and we don’t have to be perfect. 👍

    Have a wonderful Wednesday! ☺️

Rajeshwari, this was such a refreshing and hilarious read! 😂 You hit the nail on the head—the “Can I ask you something?” disappearing act for three business days is the ultimate test of human patience!

I absolutely love your point that being a good person doesn’t mean becoming a “24-hour customer care service for the entire world.” It’s so important to remember that kindness without boundaries is just people-pleasing, and setting limits doesn’t make us bad people. The distinction between “brutal honesty” and using the truth as a weapon is also such a crucial reminder.

To answer your question: I think a genuinely good person is someone who is self-aware enough to apologize when they mess up, kind enough to listen, and wise enough to protect their own peace. We are all a work in progress, and giving ourselves (and others) grace through the imperfections is what really matters.

Thank you for this gentle reminder wrapped in so much humor! Keep whispering these wonderful truths. ❤️🧿💕

What a wonderful blend of wisdom, humour, and practical life lessons! 😊❤️ I especially liked the reminder that being a good person doesn’t mean being perfect or allowing others to take advantage of our kindness. True goodness lies in treating others with respect while maintaining our self-respect and boundaries

    1. nihshabdblog Avatar

Thank you so much, Verma ji 🤍😊 You’ve understood the very heart of what I wanted to convey. Being kind doesn’t mean losing ourselves in the process. After all, even a good heart needs healthy boundaries! 🤗🤍✨

True goodness is not the perfection we project, but the integrity we practise when no one is watching. Kindness without wisdom becomes self-neglect; honesty without compassion becomes cruelty. Real goodness begins when conscience governs the ego, and self-respect walks hand in hand with compassion.

Looks like we’re on the same wavelength! Haha! I love your take on this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and thanks for liking my post, too! ❤️

Well said. Ask people whether they’re good human beings, and watch them conduct their own character assessment. They appoint themselves judge, dismiss every witness, bury the inconvenient evidence, and deliver a unanimous verdict of “Not guilty.” The ego, comes with a built-in judiciary.

Beautifully expressed Rajeshwari ! ❤️ Being a good person is not about being perfect or pleasing everyone, but about being kind, honest, and willing to learn from our mistakes. I especially loved the reminder that kindness and self-respect can go hand in hand. We can be good to others without losing ourselves in the process. And yes, a little humour makes these life lessons even more relatable! 😊
