How Do You Write What People Actually Want to Read?

How do you write what people actually want to read? I often find myself wondering about this. Is it the perfect headline, the right keywords, a trending topic—or something much simpler?

I think people want to read something that makes them feel seen.

Something that reminds them of a thought they had while drinking their morning coffee. A situation they laughed about later. A feeling they couldn’t explain. Or a truth they quietly knew but never said out loud.

That’s what I try to write.

Not always what is trending. Not always what might get the most views.

Sometimes I write about ordinary things because ordinary life is where most of us actually live.

A little irritation. A silly thought. A difficult day. A small happiness. A relationship that makes us laugh. A lesson we learned much later than we should have.

And honestly, I don’t think every piece has to be profound.

Sometimes you just want to read something and think,

“Oh God, I do that too!” 😄

For me, writing what people want to read is not about trying to guess what everyone wants.

It is about paying attention.

Pay attention to people.
Listen to conversations.
Notice the little things in everyday life.
And most importantly, notice those feelings we all have but rarely talk about.

Because when you write something you genuinely feel, there is a good chance someone, somewhere, will read it and think—

“She just put my thoughts into words.”

And maybe, that is what people actually want to read.

What makes you stop and read something till the end? Is it the topic, the way it is written, or simply how much you can relate to it? Tell me in the comments.

Until The Next Whisper,

—Rajeshwari 🧿💕

This is such a beautiful and refreshing reminder, Rajeshwari. You’ve perfectly captured why we connect with writing in the first place.

To answer your question: it’s absolutely the relatability that makes me stop and read to the end. While a catchy headline might get my attention, it’s that ‘Oh God, I do that too!’ feeling that keeps me scrolling. You are so right—we don’t always need profound, life-changing advice. Sometimes we just need to feel seen in the middle of our ordinary, messy, everyday lives.

Thank you for writing from a place of genuine feeling. You definitely put my thoughts into words today! Keep sharing these whispers. 😄✨

For me, the way a person comes across in a blog matters most. The words that flow straight from the heart are always the most powerful.

I like to read genuine thoughts indeed. Not in fancy words, but in easy-to-understand writing.

Ordinary life is where most of us actually live – really nice. This post itself is exactly what people want to read because it feels incredibly genuine and grounded. Beautifully expressed.

So beautifully and simply written 💕 I can totally relate to how our everyday lives, little thoughts, and quiet moments find their way into our words, making them feel so much more real and relatable. Sometimes, it’s the simplest pieces of life that leave the softest footprints on a page. 🥰✨

Yes, people relate our situations or circumstances…. That is a very strong hook….

Rajeshwari ji, perhaps the secret of meaningful writing is not to chase what people want to read, but to understand what they feel and cannot express. When a writer gives words to someone else’s unspoken thoughts, the connection goes beyond the page. People may arrive because of a topic, but they stay because they find a part of themselves in the words. That, to me, is the quiet power of authentic writing.

Absolutely! I think you’ve captured one of the most important truths about writing: people may click because of a headline, but they stay because they feel something.

I’m drawn to writing that feels honest and familiar—something that makes me pause and say, “Yes, I’ve felt that too.” It doesn’t necessarily have to be profound or perfectly polished. Sometimes an ordinary observation, expressed with sincerity, can touch us more deeply than a carefully constructed lesson.

It’s an interesting question and the answer is probably as individual as all of us. I know I’m put off by long blogs, especially when reading from a phone.
