🌙 “The Day I Lost My Daydream”🌙

What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

Daydreaming🌙

I was quietly daydreaming,

like every normal kid does

building castles in my mind

with doors that never shut.

But suddenly, that day,

my daydream ran away.

It slipped out of my head

like a naughty child at play.

I chased it through my classroom,

past math and geography,

through whispers, chalk dust, sunlight

all shouting, “Dream’s running free!”

It hid behind the teacher’s book,

then jumped onto a cloud,

waved at me dramatically

like heroes in a crowd.

I almost caught it near my desk

but it giggled “Not today!”

Then it somersaulted mid-air

and drifted far away.

I stood there, half-confused,

half-laughing at its style

like seriously, my own dream

just left me with a smile?

But then things turned emotional;

my chest felt strangely tight

I missed the soft imagination

that tucked me in at night.

I whispered, “Come back, little dream…

I still need you to grow.”

And just then, like a magic trick,

a warm wind started to blow.

My dream returned quietly,

like a shy kid after school,

sitting back inside my mind

like it always knew the rules.

It said, “I left you for a second

just checking if you care.

Your heart still kept me safe,

so I knew I’d find you there.”

And since that day, I realised

something beautiful and true

dreams may wander far away,

but they always come home to you.

  1. That’s absolutely delightful, Rajeshwari ji
Your poem carries the innocence of childhood and the quiet wisdom of growing up so gently, so playfully.
The way daydreaming becomes a living, mischievous companion is magical, and yet the emotional turn feels deeply real.
That moment of missing imagination… it touched the heart.
“Dreams may wander far away, but they always come home to you” , this line lingers beautifully. It reminds us that as long as the heart stays open, wonder never truly leaves.
Thank you for sharing such warmth, whimsy, and truth.

  2. Even when our mind wanders off, the best ideas always find their way back home. It is a sweet reminder that our imagination is a friend that never truly leaves us. Beautiful!!

  3. Rajeshwari, dreams never leave you. With such simplicity, ease, and innocence, you have written this poem. You have written about your childhood. Life is driven by experiences. Some childhood and some wisdom go hand in hand. Your sincere and loving heart has made these lines emotional. When I read your poetry, it feels like I’m reading you. You’re right there in front of me. I see you in your words. Many times I have thought about your poems late at night. Because this isn’t writing. It’s life. This probably happens to everyone. Your thoughts are so beautiful, Rajeshwari. What wonderful memories. You are the queen of the beauty of words. 👏👏👏👏

    1. Thank you so much for your loving words. Krish 🤍✨ If my poems feel like “me,” then that’s the biggest compliment I could ever receive.🤍✨ It means a lot that my little memories and emotions reached your heart so deeply. Truly grateful. 🤍✨

  4. Rajeshwari, it’s important to understand someone’s feelings deeply, to understand what they’re trying to say. Only then will they sink into your heart. Your feelings are like words. 😊
