My Travel Bucket List: Exploring India By Road! 🇮🇳🚗

What’s a country that’s at the top of your bucket list?

If you ask me which country is at the top of my bucket list, my answer might disappoint all those fancy international travel brochures.

India. Yes, India. And preferably by road! 😃

Why rush to tick off countries when my own country still has so many beautiful corners waiting to be explored? My India travel bucket list is far from complete, and honestly, India seems to have no intention of making it easy for me!

Kashmir’s breathtaking valleys, Kerala’s dreamy backwaters, Gujarat’s colourful culture, the mysterious charm of the Northeast, and the turquoise waters of Lakshadweep — so many places, so little time!

Some cities have already been my home, some I’ve explored as a tourist, and others are still waiting patiently on my travel wishlist. I intend to get to them eventually. No promises about the timeline, though. Life has its own itinerary, and it rarely asks for my approval!

My ideal trip? A long road journey with beautiful landscapes rolling past the windows, unexpected stops, local delicacies that make me forget every diet plan I ever considered, and a little shopping along the way. 😜

And honestly, have you seen the sheer variety India has to offer? Snow-covered mountains, golden deserts, lush green forests, sunny beaches, ancient forts, magnificent temples, colourful festivals, and charming little towns with stories waiting to be discovered.

Then comes the food! Kolkata’s kathi rolls, Hyderabad’s biryani, Mumbai’s street food, Gujarat’s farsan, and South India’s crispy dosas. Every region brings something different to the table, quite literally! And shopping? Let’s just say I might return with wonderful memories, but my luggage could need some extra space. 😂

And when the road ends? Well, there’s always a flight! I’m adventurous, not unreasonable.

Travel: Exploring the Beauty of India

Of course, international trips are welcome too. I’m not going to turn down a passport stamp! But for now, my heart has plenty of unfinished travel plans right here in India.

My dream is to explore India, one road trip at a time — with a curious heart, a hungry stomach, comfortable shoes, and enough luggage to suggest that I’m relocating permanently. 😂

Because travelling, for me, isn’t just about reaching a destination. It’s about the stories collected along the way, the unexpected discoveries, the flavours that linger in my memory, and those beautiful views that make me forget to check my phone.

From scenic road trips to hidden gems waiting to be discovered, there’s always something new around the next bend. Honestly, how can one ever run out of places to explore in a country as beautiful and diverse as India? ❤️🦋

So, while I’m still figuring out which part of India to explore next, one thing is certain: my travel bucket list is long enough to keep me happily occupied for years!

Tell me, what’s at the top of your travel bucket list? And if it’s India, which place would you send me to first? ❤️

  • Budget Travel Tips: My Advice (That I Don’t Follow) 😂

Budget Travel Tips: My Advice (That I Don’t Follow) 😂

What’s your best tip for budget travel?

If you’re looking for budget travel tips, the first rule is simple: plan ahead.

Book your flights or trains well in advance.
Reserve your hotel early, especially if you’re travelling during the holiday season.
Have your itinerary more or less sorted, so you know where you’re going and how you’re getting around.
Compare prices before booking, use public transport wherever practical, and eat at local places instead of spending every meal at a fancy tourist restaurant.

A little planning can save you quite a bit of money.

    There. That’s my budget-travel wisdom. 😄

And honestly, it’s all very good advice.

I just don’t follow most of it when I’m actually on holiday. 😂

Budget Travel Tips I Don’t Actually Follow

Because for me, a holiday is supposed to feel like a holiday.

I like having my tickets and hotel booked, obviously. I’m not going to land somewhere and start looking for a room! 😂 But once I’m there, I don’t like my days to be ruled by a rigid itinerary.

I like waking up at my own time, having a long, lazy breakfast and deciding what I feel like doing that day.

And if I have a plan but wake up thinking, “You know what? I’d rather stay in today…”

    Plan cancelled.
    No guilt.
    No regrets.
Blanket on. Back to sleep. 😴😂

I also happen to like good hotels. I’m definitely not from the “the hotel is only for sleeping” school of thought.

If I’m on holiday, I want to enjoy the hotel too. The room, the breakfast, the comfort, the little luxuries… I want all of it. 😄

And food? That is definitely not where I’m looking to make heroic sacrifices. 😂 I love trying local food, street food, exploring local markets and discovering those little places that you won’t necessarily find in a tourist guide.

And yes, I have absolutely no problem indulging in something deliciously unhealthy once in a while. It’s a holiday, not a nutrition conference. 😄

And then there are those trips where we don’t plan at all.

A long weekend comes up, we have a few days free, we look at each other and say, “Let’s go somewhere.”

And off we go in the car.

No advance bookings. No elaborate itinerary. Sometimes not even a proper destination beyond “let’s see where the road takes us.” 😂

And somehow, those spontaneous trips can be just as much fun.

So yes, I can happily tell you how to save money while travelling.

But if you ask me whether I practise what I preach…

Well, let’s just say my budget-travel advice and my actual holiday personality are two completely different people. 😂

For me, a holiday needs full enjoyment, full masti and full relaxation.

Because if I have to rush around following a timetable from breakfast to bedtime…

that sounds suspiciously like work. 😄✈️

    And people like me?
We may not always travel by the rulebook, but we certainly know how to enjoy a holiday. 😉
