If I could erase one event from history, I would erase the moment when society first began limiting women and their dreams…
I would not erase a war.
Not a battle.
Not a revolution.
Not a name carved in gold on the pages of history.
I would erase a moment that looked so small,
so ordinary,
that nobody thought it was worth remembering…
Yet it changed the lives of millions.
The moment someone looked at a little girl holding a dream in her heart and said—
“You are a girl. This is not for you.”
Just a few words.
But some words are not just words…
They become walls.
Invisible walls.
Walls built with fear.
Walls built with expectations.
Walls built with a question asked before every dream:
“Can she really do it?”
The Silent Rules Written for Women
For generations, women have heard those walls speak:
“Girls don’t do this.”
“This is too difficult for you.”
“It’s not safe.”
“Why do you want to go so far?”
And the irony?
The same world that tells women,
“The sky has no limits,”
often tries to decide how high they are allowed to fly.
We teach women how to be careful,
but forget to teach the world how to be responsible.
We tell them to be brave,
but then create a world where their bravery is constantly tested.
And when someone says,
“It’s not safe for women,”
a question remains unanswered…
Why are we asking women to make their dreams smaller instead of making the world safer?
Why should a woman’s freedom be limited because society refuses to remove the obstacles in her path?
Women Were Never the Limitation
Maybe history’s biggest mistake was never that women lacked talent, courage, or dreams.
The mistake was believing that women needed permission to prove their worth.
Because every woman who dared to create, discover, lead, explore, and rise was not fighting her own weakness…
She was fighting a belief that was handed to her before she even learned to speak.
A belief that said:
“Your dreams need approval.”
But dreams were never meant to ask for permission.
If I could erase one moment from history,
I would erase the day the world confused being a woman with being less capable.
Because a woman was never the limitation.
She was never the problem.
She was never the wall.
The wall was built by a mindset that refused to see her possibilities.
And maybe the greatest change in history will come when we stop asking:
“Can women do it?”
And finally start asking:
“Why did we ever doubt that they could?” ✨
