Fairy tales may seem magical, but would I really want to live in one where every woman must wait for her happily ever after? Honestly, I don’t think so!
When Fairy Tales Aren’t So Magical
Imagine a world full of beautiful castles, singing birds, enchanted forests, and gorgeous gowns. Everything looks magical, except for one tiny problem.
The princess isn’t allowed to have plans of her own. 😂
She must wait for a prince to find her, a fairy godmother to rescue her, or a magical spell to change her life. Apparently, even in a world full of magic, a woman needs an appointment with destiny!
But what if she doesn’t want to be rescued?
What if she wants to travel beyond the enchanted forest, learn to ride a dragon, open a little bookshop, or spend an entire afternoon eating strawberries without anyone asking when she’s getting married?
What if her idea of a happy ending is simply waking up one morning and realising that her life belongs to her?
Honestly, I’d probably be the most troublesome character in that book. I’d wander away from the royal ball, befriend the witch everyone fears, and ask the dragon if it needs a travel companion. The prince could keep dancing. 😂🐉
And somewhere along the way, I’d probably discover that the world wasn’t quite as magical as it appeared. Not because it lacked fairy dust, but because it had forgotten that even princesses have their own little dreams.
So yes, that would be the worst bookish world for me to live in.
Not because I dislike fairy tales. I love a little magic!
But I’d rather be the girl who writes her own adventure than the princess who spends the entire book waiting for somebody else to begin hers.
After all, who says every fairy tale needs a prince? Maybe some of us are simply waiting for a library card, a plane ticket, and a little adventure. ❤️✨
What about you? Which book’s world would you never want to live in, and why?🦋
