If I had to choose one quote that perfectly describes my outlook on life, it would be this:

At first, it sounds like a quote about moving on.
But to me, it has never been about leaving the past behind.

It’s a gentle reminder to stop expecting yesterday’s answers to solve today’s questions.

And sometimes, the hardest part isn’t finding a new door…

it’s finding the courage
to finally put the old keys down.

A Pocket Full of Old Keys 🦋
I have a tiny collection
of keys
that no longer open
anything.

One belongs to a house
that isn’t mine anymore.

Another…
I can’t even remember
what it once unlocked.
.
Funny, isn’t it?

How we hold on
to things
long after they’ve
stopped being useful.

Not just keys.
Old arguments.
Old fears.
Old regrets.

That one embarrassing moment
from eight years ago
that still pops up
at 2 a.m.
as if it has
a monthly subscription. 🙄

We are strange creatures.
We’ll happily throw away
a mismatched sock…

but carry around
a guilt
that expired
years ago.

Maybe life isn’t asking us
to find
the right key.

it’s smiling,
shaking its head
just a little,

And honestly?
I think that’s wonderful.

Because imagine
trying to unlock
tomorrow

worries.

that has already
outgrown
who you used to be.

So here’s my plan.
I’ll keep
the old keys.

Not because
I still need them…

but because
they remind me
of every door
that once welcomed me,

who did her best
with what she knew.

And when life
places
a shiny new key
in my hands…

I won’t be afraid
to let
the old ones
rest.
